The title character of Walt Kelly's popular strip Pogo, Pogo the Possum, was the level-headed heart and soul of the strip. Kelly's strip ran the gamut from whimsy and sheer slapstick to courageous political satire and moments of real poetry. Pogo was the eternal optimist and voice of reason among the unique cast of characters that all made their home in Okefenokee Swamp.
