Azzul Gotha is a mortal enemy of humanity -- a 42,000 year-old sorcerer whose goal is to summon the gods of Hell to earth. His resurrection heralded the deadly green fog that has turned most of the planet into a living hell plagued by zombies, and he's only half-way to his evil goal. With a plan to build a giant underground structure to summon Satan's worm-gods to earth, Gotha needs only one thing more to become the undead king of the world -- his chosen queen, Rebecca Dean. But on the tattered streets of London, Miss Dean meets up with the man possessed by the ancient zombie-killer, Killcrop, who has manifested in modern times to battle and defeat Gotha and his zombie minions.
"John Deadstock and I produced Tree of Death with enough echoes of real-life to chill," said writer Pat Mills. "To get an authentic look for the strip, armed with notebook and sketchpad, we spent a fun day out in a Victorian cemetery and catacombs, drawing the moldering coffins on display. You know, it's the research part of this job I like the most."
The zombie plague erupts June 23, when Dark Horse debuts issue one of Pat Mills and John Deadstock's four-issue sequel to Mike Mignola and Pat McEown's original Champion of the Worms serial. Each freaky issue features 32 full-color pages of Deadstock's grisly talents, and retails for $2.95.
