The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite and Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 22: Tomoe’s Story have been listed in the American Library Association’s 2009 Great Graphic Novels for Teens at the Midwinter Conference in Denver, Colorado.

Apocalypse Suite and Tomoe’s Story were found to meet the strict criteria to be nominated, both in terms of quality literature and teen-reader appeal. Titles are chosen for readers between the ages of twelve and eighteen by members of the Great Graphic Novel Committee, comprised of librarians from all over the nation.

“This year’s list is diverse and engaging for a wide variety of teen readers,” said Robin Brenner, committee chair. “Creating the list reinforced how many quality titles are available for teens.”

While the Dark Horse titles were two of only fifty-three graphic novels to make the prestigious list, Apocalypse Suite was especially honored with a spot in the Top Ten.
