Stacy Palumbo's life didn't begin as tragically as it ends, but in very few years the young, orphaned niece of a corrupt real estate mogul lives through more grief than any sane adult could tolerate. Her acute sadness is outweighed only by the tragic desolation she endures in Rose's company, and as this lonely child matures, she develops a depravity of spirit that embraces perversions and feeds on murder. From her sick marriage to her childhood counselor to the birth of her soon-estranged daughter Christine, Schutz digs into the marrow of Stacy's life, and presents a bloody, disturbing story of insanity and revenge.
"It took me three damn years to draw Diana [Schutz]'s cheery little tale of rape and desolation, not for any volumes of research I had to do, or copious amounts of detail in the art, but just because it was such a harrowing story that I found it hard to spend much time in Stacy's world," said Sale. "It's remarkable to me that this is Di's first script, it's so heartfelt and skillfully crafted. But if it takes subject matter like this to inspire her, I'm not at all sure I want her to write another."
