In the late nineteenth century, newspaper man R.F. Outcault created an illustrated story column called The Yellow Kid, which told the tale of Mickey Dougin, a poor Irish immigrant living in the Lower East Side slums of New York. The rowdy adventures of Mickey and his rambunctious pal's from Hogan's Alley both entertained and delivered searing social commentary and eventually took modern America by storm. In May, this classic icon of modern American life, and the first symbol of American political humor will lend its image to a five-inch, limited edition statue.

The Yellow Kid statue is number 30 in a line of small tabletop statues called Classic Comics Characters, which reproduce favorite pop-culture characters at their vintage best in wood-like resin. Classic Comics Characters are modeled after the highly collectible "Syroco" statues from the Syracuse Ornamental Company, which captured early-20th century icons and product mascots as small ornamental statues. All Classic Comics Characters statues are custom-molded and come fully-painted, packaged in a full-color tin box which includes a pinback button and informational booklet as extras.

Limited to only 600 numbered copies, The Yellow Kid statue will be available starting April 3 for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
