Last year, Dark Horse adapted the hit film Starship Troopers into an action-packed comic book, and both endeavors proved to be incredibly popular both among fans of Robert Heinlein's groundbreaking sci-fi novel, and curious newcomers who had never heard of the classic book. Now Dark Horse is furthering the terrors of the insect invasions with another thrilling story, and this one goes even deeper into Heinlein's vision by introducing power suits and canine corps -- some of the more fascinating aspects of the novel that were previously unexplored!

Tom Trask and his two closest friends live on the colony of New Kansas, in a remote town far from the presence of federation military, and smack dab in the middle of bug country. Most people in Wichipeka prefer this life over the more regulated life of bigger cities, but in the event of a major catastrophe -- say, a killer bug attack -- the town would be virtually defenseless. So when Tom and his friends find themselves on a camping trip mucked with fresh pod tegument from newly hatched bug eggs, they know they have to get back to town and warn everyone . . . that is, if it's not already too late.

"Dominant Species is my opportunity to combine the classic Robert Heinlein novel with the incredible `bug' visualizations from the Starship Troopers film to create a unique and powerful series of comics," said writer Jan Strnad. "Dominant Species is about raw, brute, elemental survival, individually and as a species -- it's a gut puncher."

Starship Troopers -- Dominant Species is an all-new series being released hot on the heels of the video premier of last year's blockbuster movie. This four-issue, full-color series is written by Jan Strnad, and the first issue features art by Davide Fabbri, and covers by John Bolton. The first issue debuts August 19, and retails for $2.95
