Anyone who's ever read Mike Mignola's Eisner and Harvey Award-winning series Hellboy knows the paranormal detective has battled more than his fair share of frog monsters, gun-wielding monkeys and other supernatural pests bent on world domination. It's becoming increasingly clear that his big, powerful, stone hand is more than just a tool for conking the occasional giant pig man on the head--it's also a major conductor of trouble and one of the main reasons Hell won't leave him alone.

In this latest collection of Hellboy stories, Mignola explores the deeper mysteries of Hellboy's bizarre hand and spins a few other good yarns in the process. Hellboy: The Right Hand of Doom collects 1999's hit series Box Full of Evil (including a new epilogue), the hilarious two-page Dark Horse Presents short "Pancakes" (printed in color for the first time!), a redrawn version of Mignola's Dark Horse Extra strip (expanded to twelve pages), and a handful of new stories, including the tale of ghostly huntsman "King Vold" (done especially for this collection). The Right Hand of Doom also includes--for the first time in print!--selections from Mignola's personal sketchbooks, showing the genesis of characters from these and other stories.

"I've always wanted to publish some of the sketch book stuff," said Mignola. "So often the best drawings happen when you're just screwing around, and there are a lot of characters here that will just never make it into the comic...so there you go."

Hellboy: The Right Hand of Doom is a full-color, 144-page trade paperback collection of Mignola's most recent Hellboy stories, on sale April 12 for $17.95.
