As in the CBS animated series, The Mask is the hyperactive, cartoony, and very dangerous alter ego of an Edge City nebbish named Stanley Ipkiss. Michael Eury, the series' writer, has included all characters familiar to fans of the television show, including Stanley's boss and pal Charlie, Peggy Brandt, the hard-boiled Lt. Kellaway, the coffee-guzzling cop named Doyle, Stanley's ever-annoying landlady Mrs. Peenman, and the impossible-to-kill mute man-monster known only as Walter.
"While this series draws from the TV show," said editor Greg Vest. "We will be telling entirely new stories in these pages, within the confines of the universe that the animated characters inhabit."
Neil Vokes, Jay Geldhof, and Matt Webb provide the interior art, which will be crafted to preserve the overall look and feel of the animated series. As an added bonus, the series' covers will be illustrated by Bruce Timm, an artist best-known for his visual stylings on yet another animated-inspired comic-book series, Batman Adventures.
Adventures of The Mask is a monthly, full-color comic-book series suitable for all ages. It debuts in comic-book shops on January 30, 1996.
