Sci-fi film buffs will have to wait a little longer to see Universal's star-studded big-screen version of Chuck Pfarrer's alien thriller Virus, but comic fans can get in on the action early with the special re-release of this hit trade paperback.

The crew of the commercial tugboat Electra has just lost its valuable cargo in a violent sea storm. Everyone on board is happy enough to meet the dawn with their lives intact -- everyone, that is except money-hungry Captain Powell. When the wayward tug chances upon an abandoned (and nuclear) Chinese warship, Powell is determined to salvage the ship, even at the risk of losing his crew to the Chinese government, or whatever unknown horrors are aboard the Wan Xuan 3.

And horrors there are. Cunning, inhuman horrors embodied in the most unbelievable and deadly forms you can imagine. The viral nightmares are brought to bloody life in the 144 full-color pages of Virus courtesy of artists Howard Cobb and Jimmy Palmiotti. Their graphic depictions paired with Pfarrer's suspenseful story lead to one hell of a knock-down, nuclear fight between what's left of the Electra crew, and whatever it is that's killed everyone else.

In this revamped edition, Dark Horse specialty book editor Lynn Adair promises there will be some new surprises. "We're very pleased that Universal was able to release a whole bunch of movie stills to include in the newly designed trade's production gallery. And John Bolton's new cover depicting the Jamie Lee Curtis character is terribly sexy."

The second edition Virus trade paperback is available February 4 for $16.95.
