"Arzach is a dreamlike book," said Jean-Marc Lofficier of Starwatcher Graphics, Moebius' agent and translator. "It's an excursion into Moebius' emotional and intellectual landscape, and it's very imagery heavy as you might expect. The book also contains some of his finest writing, particularly his weird and semi-autobiographical vacation story."
In the second week of March, Dark Horse will release H. P.'s Rock City. Although produced in the same format as Arzach, the storytelling in this collection differs somewhat from that of the previous volume. "Rock City is more linear," editor Scott Allie said. "Where Arzach focuses more on visual scope, dreamlike vistas, and flight imagery, Rock City is more traditional. It also explores more straight science-fiction themes. There are stories about nuclear war, modern urban decay, and even interstellar travel. This is going to be a wonderfully diverse set of books."
H. P.'s Rock City is also noteworthy for the collaborators it showcases, such as Dan O'Bannon, the screenwriter of Alien, who wrote the sci-fi noir tale titled "The Long Tomorrow," and Philippe Druillet, who wrote the metaphysical space-travel tale "Approaching Centauri." Dark Horse will also release Moebius collections titled The Exotics, and The Man from The Ciguri in April and May respectively. All three Moebius volumes will include story notes by Moebius, features of particular interest to long-time Moebius fans.
"It is important to reach a public that doesn't let itself be trapped in genres or categories," said Moebius. "To me, adolescents who are stuck in a single genre, like superheroes, are already old people. To me, to be young is to be free of prejudice and preconceived ideas."
