Over the last decade, Wagner has penned numerous unpublished Grendel tales -- and in many cases, he wrote them specifically to suit the style of a number of talented and well-regarded artists he wanted to collaborate with. Artists like Tim Bradstreet, Paul Chadwick, Tim Sale, Jay Geldof, Mike Allred, Bernie Mireault, D'Israeli, and the Pander Brothres were on his list, along with an assortment of other phenomenally talented individuals. Wagner's desire to work closely with these creators culminates in Black, White, and Red -- a striking and unique collection of stories which explore intimate details of Hunter Rose's life that have previously never been divulged, and looks at the lives of a number of unfortunate individuals who crossed his path.
"It's very exciting to return to the character of Hunter Rose. Although he is considered by many to be the classic incarnation of Grendel, the actual accounts of his nefarious adventures are relatively few. Thus, it's great having this opportunity to flesh out his dark and murky legend -- and to do it all with a host of the hottest artistic talents around! Black, White, & Red is sure to be the most dynamic Grendel in years!"
