A game loved the world over and an adventurous comic book company have joined forces to bring Magic to life on the pages of comic books. In Magic: The Gathering®: Gerrard's QuestTM, veteran comics creator Mike Grell has crafted a tale of mystical adventures and fate-heavy battles between the forces of good and evil.

Five years after Wizards of the Coast released an inventive new game that required nothing more than a deck of cards and a friend, Magic: The Gathering has become more than a pastime -- it's a world wide movement of gaming fans and curious fun seekers who love the thrill of adventure and the stories of fantastic voyages told in each deck of Magic cards. Now Mike Grell is telling the story of Gerrard, captain of The Weatherlight flying ship and reluctant warrior against an age-old evil on the pages of Dark Horse Comics. With his loyal crew of strange and powerful creatures like Mirri the cat warrior and Tahngarth the minotaur, Gerrard sets out on a voyage prompted not only by a legacy, but by the callings of destiny.

"The quest is the heart of classic adventure," notes Mike Grell (John Sable: Freelance, Warlord). "A young man reluctantly takes up the hero's mantle and finds his destiny. It's not the final destination, but the journey that matters. It's what sets King Arthur apart from Luke Skywalker and places Gerrard and the crew of the Weatherlight in a class all their own. It's pure Magic."

Magic: The Gathering: Initiation is the first issue in this four-part series by Grell, Pop Mhan, and Norman Lee, with covers by Mark Harrison. This full-color miniseries retails for $2.95 at comic book stores and gaming shops everywhere starting March 25.
