Mike Allred has announced that Madman is currently in motion-picture development at Universal Studios. Ben Myron and David Helpern are the film's producers, with Robert Stein and Mike Allred serving as executive producers.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be producing this film," said Allred. "I've also written the first draft script. With this much involvement, there's a good chance that the Madman people see on the big screen will be recognizable as the Madman that exists in the comics. Not everyone who gets his creation to Hollywood gets this much control over the process, so I'm forever grateful to Ben and to Universal."

Producer Ben Myron comes to the Madman picture with an impressive resumé. His previous credits include One False Move and the forthcoming Show Girls. Ben Myron is no stranger to comics-inspired film properties. He is currently at work on a Flash Gordon feature with Peter Guber, an Archie movie with Universal, and a Daredevil motion picture with Fox.

No director has been named for the Madman project as yet, nor have any stars been signed. However, it's still in its very early stages. Myron is enthusiastic about the film's prospects. "There are very few comic-book properties that lend themselves to motion picture adaptation the way that Madman does," said Myron. "Mike Allred, whom I believe to be one of the true geniuses working today in comic books, has created a character and a world that is absolutely cinematic. I feel privileged and proud to be working with Mike."
