Early spring is a big time of year for fans of the Dark Horse Star Wars line, as we feature two releases from best-selling Star Wars novelist Michael A. Stackpole. In March, an all-new Stackpole X-Wing Rogue Squadron series debuts, and April brings the release of the Battleground Tatooine trade paperback, collecting the four-issue hit miniseries of the same name.

Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron: Masquerade is a four-part series detailing the imminent usurpation of acting Emperor Pestage. The Empire seems on the verge of crumbling, but supporters of Ysanne Isard, Pestage's powerful rival, aren't quite ready to relinquish control to the Rebels. And the Rebels have some crafty plans of their own to confuse the scheming Imperials and keep the dark side guessing.

"Chronicling Ysanne Isard's rise to power has been a real thrill," says Stackpole. "In Masquerade I get to have her, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, the Millennium Falcon, The Rogues, Leonia Tavira, and Baron Fel all rolled together in one big story. Old friends, old enemies, old hatreds, new loves, and a whole bunch of Rogue Squadron action -- what more could anyone want?"

The trade paperback release of Star Wars: X-Wing Rogue Squadron: Battleground Tatooine follows the legacy of chaos after Jabba the Hutt's death. Somewhere on the desert planet Tatooine is a stockpile of stolen Imperial weapons and hardware. It's enough to give ruling power to whoever finds it first, and the Rebels aren't about to let the Empire recover their stolen goods.

The first issue of X-Wing Rogue Squadron: Masquerade, written by Stackpole with art by Drew Johnson and Gary Martin, flies into comic book stores March 4, and retails for $2.95. The trade paperback collection of the four-issue series Battleground Tatooine, a full-color, 112-page book written by Stackpole and Jan Strnad, with art by John Nadeau, and Jordi Ensign is available April 1 for $12.95.
