"At last, the entire story will be available between one set of covers," said editor Scott Allie.
"The Corpse" is the story of Tam O'Clannie, a friend of the faerie folk who populate the twilit nether regions of the Irish countryside. Tam is a rough, hard-drinking sort. When he dies, the faerie folk are determined to give him a respectable Christian burial, as a tribute to his many vices. The faeries steal a human infant and refuse to give the child up until they get their wish.
"Hellboy has to search for a Christian graveyard while carrying this dead guy on his back," said Mignola. "And it gets a whole lot more complicated when every mythical pagan creature imaginable decides to get in Hellboy's way. Of all the Hellboy material I've written and drawn so far, `The Corpse' is my personal favorite."
The comic also features a brand-new, never-before-published Hellboy story titled "The Iron Shoes." This story is set in the early 1960s and pits Hellboy against a "border goblin" right out of traditional Irish folklore.
Hellboy: The Corpse and the Iron Shoes is a 32-page comic priced at $2.95. It ships on January 23.
