Dark Horse Comics and one of its top creators have collaborated on a unique and visionary project -- a stellar animated adaptation of a favorite Sock Monkey adventure strip by writer/artist Tony Millionaire. This story, which originally ran as a four-part serial in Dark Horse Extra, follows the adventures of our beloved stuffed animals Uncle Gabby the sock monkey and his pal, Mr. Crow, as they attempt to discover exactly what makes them who they are. Their tools? A heady dose of curiosity and a big pair of scissors!

Dark Horse's top animator, Jeff Russell Allman, spearheaded the animated effort, which debuted March 1 on the Multimedia section of www.DarkHorse.com. Working closely with Millionaire to achieve an accurate animated version of the fan-favorite creation, Allman used a variety of subtle techniques, including video effects to mimic deteriorating silent films, to faithfully capture the Victorian feel of the sweet -- and often slightly disturbing -- Sock Monkey comic-book series.

"I was a little nervous about losing some of the subtlety and nuance, but Jeff Allman has captured the feel of the comics very well using soft earthy colors, delicate wallpapers and beautiful cello music that I couldn't achieve with black and white comics," said Millionaire. "I'm very fortunate to have someone directing this who really understands it. I was quite worried about it turning into some kind of hideous Scooby-Doo haunted house type of cartoon, but I was very excited after seeing just the first frame he worked on."
