Attention, Dark Horse fans!

First of all, we want to thank you for your overwhelming support of our decision to move into simultaneous release with print and digital comics! Unfortunately, there has been a bit of miscommunication regarding our pricing strategy, and we would like to clear that up here. In our initial announcement, we did not come forward with any pricing information on our upcoming releases. However, some assumptions were made based on our current pricing model.

All of Dark Horse’s same-day, single-issue digital releases will be priced at $2.99 for the first month and reduced to our standard digital pricing of $1.99 after that. We hope you will find our prices competitive and, in some cases, lower than what other publishers are currently offering.

Our goal is to give you the most rewarding comics experience out there on any platform, print or digital. We thank you for your ongoing support of Dark Horse’s publishing program and hope that you will continue to pick up your favorite comics from your local comic shop or bookstore, in the app, or online at Digital.DarkHorse.com.

We want to make it clear that nowhere in our announcement (see below) did we indicate that our same-day digital pricing would be less than that of our physical books. Due to some miscommunication, there has been widespread speculation based on our current pricing model.
To clarify: We have chosen to release all new single-issue comics digitally for the price of $2.99 for the first month, dropping to our standard digital pricing of $1.99 after that.
Dark Horse values our retail partners and is grateful for the twenty-five years of business we've done together. We have considered the retail community in all of our digital decisions and look at direct-market shops as crucial to our continued success. With that in mind, Dark Horse will make every effort to keep our comics retailers strong in a changing market.
