Famous scientists around the world have mysteriously disappeared, and Gotham City Chronicle reporter Polly Perkins and ace aviator Sky Captain are investigating. With the help of squadron commander Franky they travel the world risking their lives to stop Dr. Totenkopf, the evil mastermind behind a plot to destroy the Earth.

A modern interpretation of classic sci-fi, Paramount Pictures' film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow combines CGI technology, 1940s design elements reminiscent of Metropolis, well-known actors (Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie), and the brooding, shadowy noir atmosphere of paranoid '50s robot films, such as The Day the Earth Stood Still and Forbidden Planet.

In celebration of such truly inspired filmmaking, we have designed two ornaments based on props from the movie: the bird-like plane of the bad guys and the ingenious ray gun created by the film's sidekick inventor.

Flying Wing Ornament, 3-4" wide, fully painted polyresin, packaged in full-color box, $14.99. Arriving late January.

Atomizer Ornament, 3-4" wide, fully painted polyresin, packaged in full-color box, $14.99. Arriving late January.

Also coming late January are an embroidered patch and a sculpted pin, fashioned after the logo of the diabolical Dr. Totenkopf's robots.

Sky Captain Skull Logo Embroidered Patch, 4" x 1 1/2" in polybag with header card, $4.99.

Sky Captain Skull Logo Sculpted Pin, 4" x 3/4", in polybag with backing card, $5.99.
