In addition to a production deal with Universal, Dark Horse Entertainment has entered into a cooperative venture with InterMedia Film Equities, the newly formed film distribution company of Guy East, former head of Majestic Entertainment. Under the agreement, the two companies will produce between three and five motion pictures in the $10-to $40-million range.

"Some of these films will be based on properties we have published, and some will be wholely original ideas," said Mike Richardson, founder of Dark Horse Comics and Dark Horse Entertainment. "All told, we'll develop treatments for between eight and ten properties for consideration. From those we'll choose between three and five to be green-lighted into production."

"We're looking to Mike to deliver big, mainstream, commercial movies," said East, who also has forged partnerships between InterMedia and Kevin Costner's Tig Productions, Ridley Scott's Scott Free, and Renaissance Films.
