Corny is a lonely man who lives with his little dog Buck in a house next door to a beautiful girl who doesn't even know he exists. It's a benign situation that soon develops into a heavy crush for Corny, who can't get the image of his lovely neighbor out of his head.
"It's a story about obsession," explains French from her New Jersey home. "Corny's a little, gentle man who runs a chocolate shop and has an obsessive crush on the lady next door. This book is a much sweeter story than I've done in the past, though it does have its moments of depravity. It's the most emotional book (for me) I've ever done."
"The sad thing about this book is that it's self-contained," admits French's editor Jamie S. Rich. "I guarantee you that when you close the back cover, you'll wish Corny and the others would stick around for a while longer."
Corny's Fetish is the latest work from Renée French, the creator of The Ninth Gland, Duck, and Grit Bath (Fantagraphics). This full-color 64-page comic-book features two covers -- the front cover by The Invisibles' Brian Bolland, and a back cover by Hate's Peter Bagge -- and is available April 15 for $4.95.
