By the time Dark Horse acquired the license to publish Buffy books in November, the publishing house had already fielded numerous requests from the media about the status of the license. According to Buffy editor Jamie Rich, this is just one example of the level of excitement associated with all things Buffy.
"I was incredibly excited to hear we were going after the license, because I'm a big fan of the show," Rich admits. "To me, it isn't a case of cashing in, as licenses can be sometimes. Rather, it's a natural next step for a show that shares a lot of sensibilities with comics, and can translate really well to the comic world. Buffy is a lot of fun to watch, and our books will capture the same spirit."
Look for the first Buffy series sometime in July, written by Nocturnals great Dan Brereton. At least two more series are planned for later in the year, so keep an ear out for more Buffy news from Dark Horse.
