Decapitator is a monster warrior from a distant world, and his only purpose for living is to kill his opponents in deadly, wagered battles. This is all the nightmarish monster lord has ever known -- or at least it should be. But when the beast begins experiencing memories of life on a strange planet, and words like "Mom" and "Dad" slip into his vocabulary, it's clear to both him and his robo-nymph keeper that there was more to his last brain transplant than anyone might have guessed.
"Decapitator is not what you'd expect; in fact, it's the exact opposite," warns
creator/ writer/sculptor Bowen. "Are there boatloads of dynamic violence? Sure. Are there zesty brain removal sequences? Of course! But, beneath this gratuitously xenophobic veneer, there is a rich subtext organized in a manner that conforms to all of the best elements of classic mythology. And, oh yeah. . . it's funny!"
Decapitator is a surprisingly fun, outrageously violent four-part series, written by Randy Bowen, featuring art from some of the best-known and loved artists around, including Doug Mahnke (Major Bummer, Lobo/Mask), Mike Mignola (Hellboy), Kelley Jones (Batman, The Hammer), Stan and Vince (Tarzan), Rob McCallum (Judge Dredd), Matt Smith (Starman), John Stokes (The Invisibles), and Gary Erskine (Starman). The first issue of Decapitator hits stores June 10, and retails for $2.95.
