Twin brothers Omar and Yaqub may share the same features, but they could not be more different from one another. After a brutally violent exchange between the young boys, Yaqub is sent from his home in Brazil to live with relatives in Lebanon, only to return five years later as a virtual stranger to the parents who bore him, his tensions with Omar unchanged. Family secrets engage the reader in this profoundly resonant story about identity, love, loss, deception, and the dissolution of blood ties.

"I think our life informs how we could build the characters that live around the twins and how we could build the tension and the curiosity people have around twins." -Entertainment Weekly preview and interview with Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá

"There are certain themes in the story that are universal. The story is about this family of immigrants that come and build a home for themselves in a different place. The story of the brother that's been sent away and then has to come back and is a stranger in his homeland, that's always a very relatable story."  -amny interview with Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá
Comics do superheroes and action and they focus on the dynamic aspect of the visual. But we believe relationship stories are one of the best things that comics can offer, because it is a visual medium is great to portray this sense of intimacy. You can show drawings of scenes in silence and the silence makes you feel like you're being let into a secret, like you're eavesdropping and you're not supposed to be there. It creates a bigger connection with the reader.

"I think we have…magic. It’s like a little secret. I think the types of stories we grew up reading inspired us to tell stories, and they were very much day-by-day, contemporary stories, urban stories, sometimes stories from the countryside, and that influenced the types of stories we’re interested in telling, and the way we structure the stories." -Paste Magazine preview and interview with Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá

"Two Brothers is a striking graphic novel that allows fans to see a different aspect of two of the very best creators in comics– come and see what flavor of genius the Brazilian-based brothers have crafted from the work of Milton Hatoum." -Comics Beat review

"We always want to try something new. And we love challenges. Adapting this book was a big challenge because it's a big book, a complex story. It deals with relationships, which is what we like to talk about in our stories, but it's so different from "Daytripper." -Comic Book Resources interview with Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá

"Two Brothers is one the best graphic novels of 2015 and deserves a space on the shelf of every serious fan of the medium." -Comic Book Resources review

"Since it is a story that takes place through sixty years of Brazilian history, we see all these characters developing. We see all the stories unfolding. So we could have a big story instead of little, short excerpts of ordinary life. So it was a big dramatic story. And it was a very dramatic story." -Comics Bulletin interview with Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá

"Two Brothers is a fantastic example of the maturity that exists in the comics medium, a graphic novel that can be appreciated by comic fans, and those who enjoy good literature. It’s a beautiful read for many reasons, and easily one of my favorite graphic novels of the year so far. 9.5 out of 10" -Graphic Policy review

Check out all the great things people are saying about Two Brothers!

“TWO BROTHERS is a feat of bravura visual storytelling, a revealing and nuanced work of family portraiture, and a thrilling act of historical re-imagination. It is clearly the work of two major artists, two master collaborators, operating at the peak of their powers.”—-Michael Chabon, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay

“ I cannot think of a single gift more pure than the gift the twins possess. Gabriel and Fabio give the world something unique, and precious. It is most amazing to be alive in a time where two creators such as these exist - they give us another reason to wake up and another way to see the world. Two Brothers, like their other work, is another masterpiece, but so different in it’s pacing and tone than anything they have done before. I am lucky to share the same planet with them, because they are kind enough to share their stories with me, and the world. “

-- Gerard Way, The Umbrella Academy

“This book immediately jumps onto the list of the most essential graphic novels you will read in your lifetime. Two amazing creators at the top of their game, telling a story in a way only they can tell it. What a gift. What a treat.”—Brian Michael Bendis. Powers

“Moon and Bá have long been cartoonists of extraordinary skill, and with Two Brothers they have created their masterwork. Their passion for the comics medium bleeds through in every brushstroke and pen line. This is a stunning book that will touch your heart and leave you breathless.”—Jeff Lemire, Descender

“TWO BROTHERS is a haunting tribute to sibling love, brotherly hatred, and the kinetic energy when those two forces fuel a family. The deep sense of place, the palpable sorrow of nostalgia, the aura of truth: once again Ba and Moon bring it like no one else in graphic storytelling.”- Mat Johnson, Loving Day

“This is an extraordinary work. Moon and Bá, two men already on top of their game, have rewritten what we thought the game was. The comic book was created as entertainment. Two Brothers is proof comics can be Art. The wider your eyes get, the more it touches your heart.”—Brian Azzarello, 100 Bullets

"Speaking of brothers that both work in comics: TWO BROTHERS is a visually stunning work that makes me dizzy with admiration. Attention to detail, the concern with communicating with the reader on emotional terms as well as intellectual, it is a classic example that artistic chops still matter in the modern comics world. In fact it matters more than ever now."--Gilbert Hernandez, LOVE & ROCKETS

“Stunning…. Reminiscent of the work of authors like Gabriel García Márquez and Mario Vargas Llosa, the story is underscored by a tragic sense of longing that seeps from its pages. As good as Moon and Bá's work has been in the past, this is a statement piece, a graphic novel that transcends the medium and becomes a greater and more enriching tale with every turn of the page…. Breathtaking.”--COMIC BOOK RESOURCES

“Beautiful, poignant.”--THE AV CLUB

“Moon and Bá have both shot for the stars here... TWO BROTHERS is a striking graphic novel that allows fans to see a different aspect of two of the very best creators in comics– come and see what flavor of genius the Brazilian-based brothers have crafted from the work of Milton Hatoum.”-COMICS BEAT

“Beautifully rendered.”--PASTE MAGAZINE

“A stunning adaptation of the novel The Brothers by Milton Hatoum, one of Brazil’s most renowned contemporary writers….The graphic novel is layered enough that it’d leave a book club debating its greater meaning for quite some time....TWO BROTHERS is a fantastic example of the maturity that exists in the comics medium, a graphic novel that can be appreciated by comic fans, and those who enjoy good literature. It’s a beautiful read for many reasons, and easily one of my favorite graphic novels of the year so far.”--GRAPHIC POLICY

“Stunning.”--13TH DIMENSION

“As anyone who’s read The Umbrella Academy, Casanova, or Daytripper knows, Moon and Bá are two of the most gifted artists in the comics world. Their new graphic novel, based on the Brazilian novel Dois Irmãos, may be their most ambitious work yet, and the preview art glows. Moon and Bá are themselves Brazilian twins, so it’s easy to see how they were attracted to the story.”--io9

“Fantastic.”--The VILLAGE VOICE/ THE ROBOT’s VOICE

“Ba and Moon’s work tends be very personal, always poignant, and just heartfelt in a way you don’t see in a lot of comics. ... Two Brothers is a fantastic example of comics as art that everyone should read.”--GEEKS OF DOOM

“Riveting…. Two Brothers is an earthquake both visually and narratively.... Moon and Bá are in clear control of every element of Two Brothers, bringing to life a city, history, and compelling story of a family locked in obsession.”- FANBOY COMICS

“Anyone who has a difficult relationship with a family member can empathize; it’s never just the one thing. The devil is in the details. Two Brothers dissects these details, takes the threads of the family apart one by one and examines how they fit together. Indeed, the main push of the story is about the brothers’ feud, but it’s also about their father’s changing relationship with his wife, their housekeeper’s loneliness, their mother’s fear, their sister’s independence. Yaqub and Omar are the anchor points for a wider exploration of the whole family.”--COMICOSITY

“Powerful.”--BROKEN FRONTIER
