On the left is Kumoricon 2015’s moe-moe mascot, designed by KAo. Kumori means “cloudy,” in honor of Portland, hence the motifs!
The Portland metro anime and manga get-together, Kumoricon, is coming up once again this Labor Day weekend, Friday September 4 through Monday September 7, just across the mighty Columbia in Vancouver, WA. Founded in 2003, Kumoricon brought in over 6000 attendees last year to the two hotels where it takes place, the Hilton Vancouver Washington and the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay. Many people make the drive down from Seattle to attend as well; it’s gotten so big that Kumoricon now has shuttle service (just like Anime Expo ^_^) to several overflow hotels.
We’re looking forward to seeing you all there, at the Dark Horse Manga panel on Sunday at 4:30 PM, held in Live Events, located in the Discovery C/D/E room of the Hilton Vancouver Washington. We’ll be talking about our plans for the rest of 2015 and into 2016, taking your questions, and giving away items! And since next Monday is a holiday, we’ll see you again online in two weeks, on Sept. 14. By then, our home town of Milwaukie will be connected for the first time to the Portland light rail system via the new MAX Orange Line. Japan, of course, is famous for people reading manga on their commute. Some of you already do so…but let them see you riding on our new line too with that comic book, tankobon or graphic novel!
