Jaybird is the story of a very small and very scared little bird, who lives a lonely, isolated life in a great big house with his infirm mother. Curious but terrified of the world outside, he’s never been outside the house, and he will never leave if his mother has anything to say about it.

"Jaybird is something I’d have no trouble recommending to anyone who wants an interesting story and the artwork is sure to impress. It’s the very example to give when people discuss indie comics and I certainly hope that the Ahonen brothers will put out more. I often like to describe the best works as something that not only I enjoy, but that I can read/watch/play multiple times without getting stale. And seeing as how I’ve read Jaybird 3 times the week of its release, it definitely earns its place as one of the best comics I’ve ever read.” - We the Nerdy
"Jaybird is a melancholic, haunting work that gets into the reader’s mind and doesn’t let go. It might seem odd that a mainstream publisher like Dark Horse is releasing this book, instead of a niche outfit like Fantagraphics or Drawn & Quarterly. But the aesthetic, tone and feel of the book fit perfectly with Dark Horse’s other horror titles such as Creepyor The Strain. Give this book a read and see just what the dark side of European comics has to offer.”  - This is Another Castle
"Jaybird’s story is poignant, urgent, and deeply rewarding. Told with very little dialogue, the text nevertheless manages to convey the psychological complexities of day-to-day life for its traumatized cast. “ - Fanboy Comics
