Wow! House of Night fans, you’re incredible! Two weeks ago, we asked you to write in with your questions, concerns, and thoughts about our upcoming House of Night comic series, and we’ve received an overwhelming response so far. Incredible! We were hoping for a handful of responses and ended up with a metaphorical mountain of e-mails. Seriously, thank you!
We’d like to urge you lovely people to continue writing to us at HouseofNight[at]DarkHorse[dot]com, but we noticed we were getting quite a few questions in these early e-mails that it’d behoove us to answer before House of Night #1 went on sale. So, here’s an early, explanatory and FAQ-style edition of the letter column you can expect to see in each issue of House of Night. Let’s get to it!
Dear Dark Horse,
Just read P. C’s Facebook announcement. Will be watching this with bated breath. Also, how do I find my nearest local stockist?
Regards,
Robert Tedders
Great question, Robert! The website ComicShopLocator.com is a great resource for finding your nearest comic shop. We recommend giving them a call soon and asking them to reserve you a copy of House of Night. However, if you don’t have a comic shop near you and you don’t want to wait until the first issue hits newsstands in bookstores (which usually happens two weeks after the comic’s premiere), you can preorder the comic at online retailers like Things From Another World. Preordering usually leads to you getting a pretty sweet deal on the book, as well!
One more quick note: if you visit DarkHorse.com and search “House of Night,” you can see a listing for each issue. In the right column of those pages, you can also find preorder links and a ComicShopLocator.com search bar.
Finally, House of Night #1 will premiere digitally on the same day it hits comic shops. If you prefer to do your reading on your computer, iPad, iPhone, or Android, this is the option for you! Head to Digital.DarkHorse.com for more info!
Hi,
I’m Heather and I am so excited for House of Night to become a comic! I was wondering when the comic will be put out to the public?
Heather
Hello,
I just wanted to say that I can’t wait to read the House of Night comic book. Is there a date set yet or is that all still in the works?
Thank you,
Aisha Ringgold
Hi, Heather and Aisha! We’re glad you guys are so excited! House of Night #1 premieres on November 9, 2011. See the above answer for the nitty-gritty on how to ensure you get your copy as soon as possible!
I love House of Night! And I am so excited for the comics! But I am wondering how closely you will be following the actual plot. I hate when something from a book comes out and it doesn’t even follow the story line. So, is it going to follow the books exactly or are you doing something different?
Erin A.J.
I think you’re really going to enjoy what we’ve put together, Erin! First and foremost, P. C. Cast has been involved in every decision we’ve faced while adapting House of Night to comics. From choosing artists and tweaking scripts to weighing in on what color shirt Damien should be wearing, she’s been helping us bring her creative vision to comics every step of the way. Combine with that the fact that series writer Kent Dalian’s knowledge and love of House of Night is probably second only to P. C.’s and Kristin’s, and you’ve got a book that has a lot of talented and creative people behind it that have just as much passion about its world as you do!
To answer your question more directly though, the present-day portions of this series starring Zoey Redbird and the nerd herd take place around the same time as Betrayed. And then, in each issue, we’ll touch on a historical tale starring ancient vampyres featured in The Fledgling Handbook. In short, we’re adding new stories to and expanding upon stories in the House of Night continuity, not changing anything you already know and love.
Hi! I just want to ask if the Dark Horse comics are going to be available internationally? I’m from the Philippines. Thanks in advance! :)
Chester
The short answer is yes, though it’s a little more complicated than that. Your best bet would still be to find a local comics retailer and see if they can order you a copy of the comic from Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. You’ll need to bring them the UPC info for each issue you want, and that can be found on DarkHorse.com. (For issue #1, the issue #1 variant, and issue #2. UPC info on issues #3 through #5 coming soon!)
You can also preorder the book from an American retailer, but shipping might be kind of expensive if you go that route.
And lastly, as stated above, the comic comes out digitally the same day it hits comic shops in the US. Again, Digital.DarkHorse.com is the place you’ll want to go for that!
All right, hopefully this “early edition” letter column can act as a helpful guide to getting your hands on issue #1 of House of Night no matter where you reside, be it Tulsa or Tokyo! And, once again, thanks so much for sending us letters, folks! Don’t stop!
