Dark Horse would be nothing without the passion and hard work that our staff puts into each and every project, so to help celebrate our 40th Anniversary, we wanted to give fans the chance to learn more about the people behind the scenes!
Lance Kreiter, Senior Director of Licensing
What is your job title?
Sr. Director of Licensing - I work directly with licensing partners on behalf of DHC to obtain 3rd party licenses for comics, books and product.
What is your favorite Dark Horse title that you read?
Hellboy/HB Universe, Umbrella Academy, BERSERK, FML, Star Wars, CYBERPUNK (all), American Caper, The Witcher and more.
What's the first Dark Horse title that you worked on?
If it’s attached to a license…I bet I’ve had something to do with it on some level, ha ha.
Do you have a favorite memory from working at Dark Horse?
I have to many memories to possibly answer this fairly, but I’ll try….I’m sure it would have to be doing the very first signing tour and launch for UMBRELLA ACADEMY Issue #0 with Gerard Way and a couple of other DH staffers. We drove around NYC and Boston doing the very first announced singings for the new imagined series. It was chaos (in a good way). The MCR fans arrived in numbers.
What are you most proud of working on at Dark Horse?
I think I’m most proud of my years here managing the international licensing side of our business as it allowed me to travel globally, but also bring our books and comics to fans and readers around the globe. I am very proud of my work now on the domestic side, but reaching new audiences on a global scale will always bring me much pride.
What are you looking forward to most this year at Dark Horse?
I look forward to Frankfurt Book Fair in October. I love to meet our partners face to face as well as having time mingling with some of our fans. Some might say I’m crazy for that, but getting out and about is truly where the magic happens.
