A race against space, extinction...and deadlines! To celebrate the release of new original graphic novel, Kepler, in comic shops, co-creator Phillip Sevy shared a source of inspiration as he worked on the book: the Interstellar soundtrack! Phillip explains why the soundtrack is perfect for the book:
"When I'm writing a project, I try to find mood music to match the theme and genre of the book. For Kepler, Interstellar's soundtrack just felt right. A perfect combination of almost ambient music that could soak into the background while also being an incredible score with great moments.
For a story that I had to explore a lot of in order to find a way to make it work, the gently probing music helped guide me as I'd drop into that innerspace where writing occurs. Potentially my favorite Nolan film and definitely my favorite score.
I would often start with "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" and loop back to the beginning for the hours I would spend every day writing Kepler. And for the four+ months I spent writing the book, this was what I would listen to every day."
In the tradition of Planet of the Apes, Kepler is an allegorical thriller of environmental disaster, colonialism, religion, history, and adolescence told through the eyes of a lonely outsider. Kepler is co-created by David Duchovny (actor, The X-Files; writer, The Reservoir).
It is now available in comic shops and will be arriving in bookstores next month!
