Jason Webley shares his Music Monday picks that kept him inspired during the creation of Evelyn Evelyn

Shook Twins: "Window"

I saw these sisters playing at the Oregon Country Fair last summer. They were playing a cover of a song written by a friend of mine, but it was their song "Window" that made me fall in love with them. Plus they are actual twins, and like Dark Horse, they are based out of Portland, Oregon.

The Petrojvic Blasting Co.: "Princess Andy"

The Blasting Co. is probably my favorite new band that I've met in the past couple of years. There are no twins in this group, but Josh and Justin Petrojvic are brothers. They are also young accordionists and brass players living their lives to the fullest and making great music as they go. Meeting them has really inspired me. This song from their recent album is especially good.

Ulrich Tukur: "Evelyn"

For the preshow mix on the Evelyn Evelyn tour we found a bunch of songs referencing twins and the name Evelyn. This German tango is particularly catchy and was one of our favorites. When we recently did a short run of Evelyn shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Amanda mentioned that she missed this song. I realized I did as well.

Amanda Palmer: "Do It with a Rock Star"

I'm constantly amazed and impressed by my "sister" Amanda. This song isn't on any album yet, but the whole time we were on the Evelyn Evelyn tour last year she kept playing it during sound check. At first I thought it must have been some hit song from a while back because of how immediately familiar and strong it felt. When she told me it was a new song of hers, I remembered what a kick-ass songwriter my sister is. I'm excited to see what this song does once it gets let out of the cage.

Brad and Carter's Hammers: "Supershack"

OK, this isn't actually a song. But for the past year I've been building a new houseboat just outside of Seattle with the help of childhood friends who have grown up to be super carpenters. They also happen to be twins. Their names are Brad and Carter Wall, and they are two of my favorite people on this planet. They refer to my new house as the Supershack.
