If you're looking for teamwork between badass (can I say that here?) women, look no further than Korra and Asami. Their physical and intellectual strengths complement each other perfectly, allowing them to take down foes creatively and effectively. And when they're not chasing down one threat or another, their compassion, understanding, and respect for one another make them another kind of perfect. #relationshipgoals! But as much as they love one another, Korra and Asami always make sure their ties to the rest of the team remain strong too, and aren't afraid to pursue their own life goals independently. Such an incredible pair of powerful women, surrounded and supported by fantastic in-world AND fan communities!

"Berger Books has been generating so many incredible comics from female creators over the past two years. Invisible Kingdom is one that I’ve been excitedly anticipating since we announced it at SDCC 2018. G. Willow Wilson’s writing is hypnotic and beautifully structured. From the first to the last page of issue #1 I was completely captivated by the world she’s created. It’s rich with intrigue as two women work separately to uncover an unholy conspiracy in a far-flung galaxy. Christian Ward’s art couldn’t be more perfect. There’s a breathtaking cinematic quality to every panel. The saturated colors leap off the page as the story winds skillfully between the mysterious worlds of our two protagonists. I cannot wait to see what else will be revealed in Invisible Kingdom!" -Kelly, Digital Marketing Manager

"The enchanting Conspiracy of Ravens is sure to win over readers both young and young at heart. From writers Leah Moore and John Reppion and artist Sally Jane Thompson, this original graphic novel follows a teen girl with a mysterious and supernatural family history as she explores a crumbling English estate and all the secrets that come with it. Magical legacies, charming characters, and sharp dialogue abound in this throughly modern, female-led fantasy." -Katii, Editor

4.) Bad Luck Chuck #1

“For International Women’s Day, my recommendation is Bad Luck Chuck from Lela Gwenn and Matthew Dow Smith with colors by Kelly Fitzpatrick and letters by Frank Cvetkovic. The premise of Bad Luck Chuck is interesting because I think we all can relate to feeling a little unlucky at times, but at least we weren’t cursed with bad luck from birth! Charlene “Chuck” Manchester is a complicated character. She’s an anti-hero with a preternatural chip on her shoulder, and I appreciate that she’s strong and vulnerable. I’m really excited to see where this story goes.”  -Megan, PR Manager

5.) Isabellae Volume 1

"Within the span of a few pages, our heroine uses quick wits as well as impressive swordplay to take down a group of bandits in a bloody 5-on-1 fight. In contrasting fight scenes and introspective dialogue with her former samurai master (and father), Isabellae is introduced as a strong female lead character who is both likable and flawed. She’s made mistakes, but is trying to make amends, and demonstrates a strong sense of honor and loyalty to her family and those in need. This book is a beautifully illustrated action-adventure tale that will appeal to fans of sword, sorcery, and samurai tales featuring strong women characters. Volume 1 will collect the first three volumes by Spanish comic creators Raule and Gabor, originally published in France. It will be released this August—I highly recommend you pre-order this!" -Cara, Social Media Strategist

Isabellae Volume 1 is available now for pre-order. Look for it in comic shops on August 7th!

“There’s so much to love about this series! First, my name’s Kate, her name’s Kate and she’s the monster slaying badass I aspire to be. There’s so much more to this story than that though. This killer female creative team crafted a story about powerful female relationships, motherhood, adulthood and growth. Kate and Vera have depth to their past that Visaggio explores tenderly and carefully. And spoiler alert: you haven’t lived until you’ve seen Corin Howell  draw a monster getting its tongue cut off with a samurai sword.“ -Kate, PR Associate
