Ranmaru Kotone, artist of the manga version of the acclaimed film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, joins the universe of Blood: The Last Vampire with his adaptation of the new CLAMP TV anime series, Blood-C!

Blood: The Last Vampire is a franchise Dark Horse knows well, going back to the original 2000 anime film with character designs by DH manga artist Katsuya Terada (Katsuya Terada's The Monkey King). In 2005, Dark Horse published Blood: The Last Vampire—Night of the Beasts, the novel by Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell). In 2008-09, DH released the Blood+ manga series by Asuka Katsura and Kumiko Suekane and the Blood+ novel series by Ryo Ikehata.

Now in 2012, Dark Horse announces Blood-C, the manga adaptation of the 2011 anime TV series (and forthcoming July 2012 movie) written and with character designs by CLAMP (Gate 7, Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth) and made in collaboration with Production I.G (Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, xxxHolic). In Blood-C, the new incarnation of the heroine is Saya Kisaragi, a kind, pretty student. Her home life is a little out of the ordinary, as Saya comes from a priestly family and trains as a miko, or shrine maiden. Her secret life is far out of the ordinary, as she makes it her duty to slay by the sword the furukimono, ancient monsters that prey upon her town. Or did she make it her duty...and is she really protecting her town...? Artist Ranmaru Kotone adapts the concepts of CLAMP's Nanase Ohkawa into something dark and lovely in Blood-C!

Dark Horse does not have the final release date for Blood-C vol. 1 as of press time, but we anticipating releasing this information soon in a follow-up.
