Hello Dark Horse fans!
If you haven't been keeping up with your comics media, here's some key links and reviews for you to check out what we've got going on in the news!
The Thing Returns to Dark Horse Comics!
Last week, the first part of the newThe Thing comic was released on www.digital.darkhorse.com!
L.A. Time's Hero Complex talked with writer Steve Niles about his involvement with the prequel comic and his love for John Carpenter's original.
"There are so many reasons why I love John Carpenter and “The Thing,” but one of the reasons that I love John so much is that he’s a true pioneer. He gets his movies made, hell or hot water, and if he can do it within the Hollywood system, he’ll do it; if not, he’ll step outside and do it. He always finds a way to get it done. I’ve always found him incredibly inspirational."

USA Today Interviews
A couple amazing interviews went up on USA Today last week with some of our favorite creators! Make sure you read up!
USA Today interviews Mike Mignola:
"We're getting to a point with the B.P.R.D. where the situation is really getting to be a global disaster," Mignola says. "We really see that here, where we have these guys say, 'You know, it's time to compare notes and see how we're going to deal with this situation.' What we'll discover is the situation is in fact worse than anybody knows."
USA Today interviews Amanda Palmer:
"Kids love dark twisted stuff — in fact, I think you could argue that they need it. I would simply advise that parents reading this book to their children not explain some of the more adult in-jokes."
Dark Horse Goes to the Movies
We got an awesome segment on Comic Book Movie that paid homage to the early days of Dark Horse Entertainment. Speaking about The Mask circa 1994:
"There is a hint of irony here that even Dark Horse Comics had a good comic book movie before Marvel did. Dark Horse might have taken considerably longer to breaking into the cinema scene, but when it did, it did so in style. I mean that quite literally when it comes to The Mask."
Reviews Quoted for YOU!
Cup O Kryptonite reviewed Baltimore: The Curse Bells #2:
"The story has such great flow and creep factor, with subtle easy on the eye art. This is a fantastic second chapter to the first volume, which I felt was one of the best reads of last year."
Pop Culture Network loved Baltimore: The Curse Bells #2 also!
"Baltimore: the Curse Bells is the perfect antidote for the watered down, emotional vampires currently dominating all of popular culture, rotting away the once great vampire mythos. The Curse Bells is dark, brooding and most importantly, respectful of the monsters and vampires that inhabit it’s pages. Wash the sparkle out of your eyes with this clever, traditional monster story."
Comic Booked picked up The Guild - Clara:
"Probably the best part about the book is that anyone can pick it up and enjoy it, even without being familiar with the show at all. The characters are easily relatable, in their own ways, and the story doesn’t get bogged down in necessary back story."
Big Shiny Robot really enjoyed Star Wars: Knight Errant – Deluge #2:
"I’m pleased with John Jackson Miller’s story and pacing for this issue, and once I got used to seeing Kerra with a slightly different style, I think the art works well here too, especially in space."
Comic Bastards gave some love to Major Bummer Super Slacktacular:
"There’s probably a large portion of comic readers that missed out on this series when it originally released and thankfully Dark Horse is giving everyone a second chance to read the series. I highly recommend you pick up one of the best comics to ever hit the market and worth edition to any comic readers collection."
Crave Online gave a solid review on Boris Karloff: Tales of Myster Vol. 6:
"One of my favorite things about these kinds of archives, besides the genius work, is the fact that they were turned out almost in a factory like nature but still above reproach. Story after story after story, each one had the highest quality of artwork and writing. Boris Karloff: Tales Of Mystery Volume 6 is the most recent in a lineage of books that any comic book collectors must have for themselves."
Scott Green at Ain't It Cool News thoroughly reviewed Eden Volume 13:
"Eden is a smart work that is remarkably charged in its sci-fi, geopolitics and especially the extent of its violence."
And lastly, Comic Bastards interviewed Jeremy Barlow on his on going KULT series:
"If Liam Neeson had, at any point, shouted "This town needs an enema!" or "And where is the Batman? He's at home, washing his tights!" I'd have given Batman Begins the edge. But, alas."
