THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Bad Blood #3

"The art is beautiful and the writing is top notch. Do yourself a favour, if youre not already reading this series, START READING THIS SERIES." - Big Comic Page

"Bad Blood has reached it's midpoint, and what a way to do so. The introduction of a new character as well as the mindset of the vampires has added a lot of intensity to this unique series, and I for one look forward to seeing what Maberry produces next." - Unleash the Fanboy

Catalyst Comix #9

""Catalyst Comix" are doing some great things, you can see that by the way things are going and things will change"" - Unleash the Fanboy

Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight #6

"De Campi has a certain relentless talent for shameless violence and gratuitous nudity that commands the page. Her understanding of grindhouse conventions allow her to play with expectations in ways you could never imagine, and she actually elevates her stories to a level the stories that inspired them could never reach." - Bloody Disgusting

"If you're not picking up this title yet, you probably won't, but you'd be missing out. This type of comic rarely catches my interest, but this one most definitely has. It won't change the world, but 'Grindhouse: Doors Open at Midnight' should certainly be on your buy list." - Big Comic Page

Juice Squeezers #3

"As for the art in the book, the art is still great in this book, its one of my favorite part of the book. Like I said in my previous review, the art is cartoony, and it feels like I am watching Saturday morning cartoon. Overall Juice Squeezers #3 had a couple of problems, but it was still a great read with some great art, and a good setup for the final issue." - Comic Bastards

"This third issue feels like a place setting endeavour with the pieces being moved in to position for the final encounter. Lapham has done this with his usual care but the real way to judge this issue is the payoff in the final issue. For now though I can recommend this as an essential part to the story but please do not jump on here." - Backwards Compatible

Lobster Johnson: Get the Lobster #2

"Pulp supernatural adventures were never better." - SciFi Pulse

"As a long-time fan of anything with Mignolas name on it, it was still surprising to see just how terrific this latest issue of Lobster Johnson was. This really was a perfect book that hit all the right notes for any fan of this character. This issue has action, excitement, a ton of intriguing mystery, and really started to provide some very interesting potential backstory for the Lobster himself. This was both a perfect Mignolaverse book and also a perfect pulp-action book, and easily among the very best yarn featuring Lobster Johnson." - All Comic

Terminator Salvation: The Final Battle #4

"“I don't care about history…” goes the old song. Well you should, because it's about to damn the human race. This book is a continuing treat for those familiar with the films and those who have just enlisted. Highest possible recommendation." - SciFi Pulse

"After a raucous and adrenaline charged Issue #3, #4 slows it down and begins to establish the upcoming events related to what counter plans the machine's have in regard to the battle. This issue works perfectly in establishing that counter and it also allows the reader to prepare for the coming onslaught that awaits. It's on people and it's winner take all." - Comic Bastards

The Victories #10

""Ideas can't change things. Only power can." We see this early on in the issue and by the issues conclusion, we've seen just what power can do and get a foreboding since that we are going to see it do a LOT more in the near future. I'm slightly less happy with this issue than I was expecting to be heading in, but I'll be reading it again. This is a great issue in a line of great issues. You should all be enjoying The Victories!" - Unleash the Fanboy

"The Victories never lets me down, and that's what's so great about it. Its characters are consistently awesome, along with the overall plot and art and the quality never really waivers. Sprinkle on the fact that Michael Avon Oeming has some of the biggest balls in comic story telling these days and writes his stories fearlessly and you have a solid comic that never leaves my pull list." - Comic Bastards

Veil #1 (Toni Fejzula cover)

"This is a great creative team. Rucka uses a similar technique here that he used in the beginning issues of Lazarus, which is to plop the reader down in a world, without explanations or exposition, and makes our curiosity, tied in with the main characters' own questions, the driving force of the story. Not many comics writers trust their readers that much. Not many creative teams are good enough to get away with it either." - Comics Bulletin

"The genius behind Veil lies in its linguistic construction. The book opens with several pages of eery silence, brought to life by Fejzula's eerie, atmospheric art and subdued yet colorful palette. Over the course of the issue, the girl's grasp of language evolves from silence to nonsense to a nascent self-awareness. It's difficult to balance whimsical wonderment with blood-tinged violence, but Rucka and Fejzula make it look disturbingly effortless. This is one mystery that is not to be missed." - IGN

"Veil has the perfect combination of art and story. One could not exist without the other. Together Rucka and Fejzula create a waking dream centered on a captivating and mysterious character. Its tightly paced, hypnotic, and impossible to read once." - Bloody Disgusting
