THE WEEK IN REVIEW
MARCH 27, 2013
"While Season 9 has been great for Angel & Faith, issue #20 is the creme de la creme. Fans of the Buffyverse, just read this book already." - Comic Book Therapy
"I continue to love the absolute hell out of this book, and can't wait to see what happens next time at its end. Speaking of endings, there's a wicked little pinup of The Answer! by Francesco Francavilla after this story, which provides the icing on an already delicious cake." - Comic Bastards
"The Answer! #3 may offer up some nuggets of information about certain aspects of the story, but the star here is what the creative team has fashioned. There's comedy, action, drama and intrigue that add together and easily yield a tale that comes highly recommended." - Unleash the Fanboy
"There isn't really any action in "B.P.R.D.: Vampire" #1, as the issue just sets the scene for things to come, so readers looking for fantastical fight scenes will be disappointed. But Moon and Ba create an appealingly sinister, nuanced mood that begins to blur the lines between man and monster. I suspect this theme will only grow across the rest of the series, and I'm looking forward to seeing that happen." - Comic Book Resources
"This is a really good beginning, or maybe continuation is a better word, to Mignola's view of Vampires in the world that he has spent twenty years building and crafting. It's been a long time coming and having artists and collaborators like Gabriel Ba, Fabio Moon and Dave Stewart by his side seem like the perfect choice to tell this five-part tale. Make sure you strap in and hold on to your butts for this one. We're in for a crazy, Vampire filled ride with Mignola and company behind the wheel." - Read Comic Books
Criminal Macabre: Final Night—The 30 Days of Night Crossover #4
"Criminal Macabre/30 Days of Night: Final Night is a delicious treat for fans of both series, and a wonderfully constructed pulp noir horror book; its just shame one of these titles is over. Youll have to pick up the final installment to see which one." - Bloody Disgusting
"Criminal Macabre/30 Days of Night – Final Night is the series where Steve Niles kills off one of his popular horror comics franchises, and THIS is the issue where we find out who gets to waltz out of Thunderdome." - Comics Bulletin
"I could be crazy but this is the best that Chad Hardins art has looked. As for the masterful scribe that is David Gaider, well let’s just say he’s doing what he does best and telling an entreating story. He also continues to add such interesting little nuggets of back story about the characters and the universe that will make any DA fan smile. So if you still haven’t jumped on board this great series than shame on you. Now that’s over with, go and buy this book!" - Comic Bastards
"Dragon Age: Until We Sleep #1 is the perfect story for any Dragon Age fan ever, despite whether or not they have ever read a comic before." - Read Comic Books
"The Massive isn't about an issue, or a panel or even an arc. The Massive is massive. We can take this latest issue as a slice of the whole. Is it a turning point? Maybe. Is it a must read? Definitely. You don't want to miss what comes next. This is the calm before the storm. The world is out there, The Massive is out there. What will we find over the horizon? Keep reading and lets find out!" - Read Comic Books
"The Massive is not only an amazing action-packed and thought-provoking story, but it's quickly becoming a heartfelt one as well. The demise of humanity never looked so cool." - Geeks Unleashed
"This is a great one-shot for crime comic fans." - Newsarama
"So. Get on board the High-Speed Nonstop Bullet Train that is comic. Grab your psychotropic of choice. Pack light. Buckle up. Mr. X: Hard Candy is your jumping-on place." - Comics Bulletin
Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi—The Prisoner of Bogan #4
"Dawn of the Jedi is a great concept and Ostrander and Duursema are taking their time mapping out the universe. This issue lurches the plots forward while building up several of the regular characters. When you add in the subplots and the action you have yourself a great issue. This is just another day at the Ostrander/Duursema Star Wars office." - Comics List
"Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi – Prisoner of Bogan #4 is a good comic that will entertain its core audience as it slowly but surely marches toward the conclusion of this mini-series. Recommended." - Unleash the Fanboy
APRIL 03, 2013
Abe Sapien #1: Dark and Terrible part 1
"The art of this issue is outstanding, an incredibly realistic look with just a hint of sketchiness that Mignola's world is famous for. Sebastin Fiumara gives all the characters and environements of the book a life-like appearance; this rings true even for the monstrous creatures that are showcased throughout the book. Dave Stewart, who is now the goto colourist for most of the BPRD books, does his thing giving that extra oomf the book needs through the use of his colour pallet and shading." - Bloody Disgusting
"It's a rock solid start that beautifully sets up this arc and beyond. Having read issue #2 already as well, we can assure you readers " this is just the tip of the iceberg." - Multiversity
The Last of Us: American Dreams #1
"I’m glad that this book shipped early. I’ve been dying to read it and now that excitement has begun again for the next issue. I don’t know what to expect from the next issue and I don’t care. I’m along for the ride and enjoying the journey. This comic has not only successfully wet my appetite for the game, but it manages to show that strong female characters can exist without compromising themselves or running around in their underwear. If you missed this book go to your comic shop right now and buy it. NOW!" - Comic Bastards
"All in all, Snow Angel is a great comic. This issue is made to be read out loud. The little one and I both recommend it for families everywhere." -Unleash the Fanboy
Star Wars: Dark Times: Fire Carrier #3
"This book succeeds because it offers more than a solid trip to a galaxy far, far away. The story itself is solid without being exceptional, which is, in all likelihood, good enough for the series' core readership. For those whose attention is starting to stray in response to Fire Carrier's simple plot, Stradley includes commentary to keep their brains engaged." - IGN
"Star Wars: Dark Times – Fire Carrier #3 is another success that continues to build upon this brief period where the Empire is growing in strength while the last remnants of the old Republic attempt to survive. In short if you're looking for something worth following than this title might just be for you. Recommended." - Unleash the Fanboy
