Dotter of Her Fathers Eyes Wins Costa Awards 2012 | The Guardian
Dotter of Her Father’s Eyes, by Mary and Bryan Talbot, has won the Costa Book Awards (formerly the Whitbread Awards) in the biography category, marking the first time a graphic novel has received the literary prize. “Just being shortlisted was amazing and hearing we’d won the category was stunning,” Mary Talbot said. “We’re delighted of course, both personally – it’s the first story I’ve had published – but also for the medium, I can’t believe a graphic novel has won.”

THE WEEK IN REVIEW
"The 47 Ronin is one Japanese tale that works perfectly in the comic book medium. Richardson and Sakai make the story feel Japanese while being accessible to all readers. If you’re a fan of the culture and its legends, this is certainly one to check out" - Comic Book Therapy
"Richardson nails the storytelling technique that is associated with Japanese samurai stories; the late introduction of characters, the heartbreaking drama that ignites the plot. Reading this book is just like watching a samurai movie and that’s a great thing to be compared to." - Comic Bastards
"With a newly encountered society of witches pulling her one way, and her companion Marrak, another, this issue presents Willow with a multitude of choices regarding her future, both in this mystical realm, and on Earth." - Bloody Disgusting
"Looking back on the last three issues, the journey our witch has taken during Willow: Wonderland has been appropriately mythical and heroic. Pair that with her previous journey to Quor'toth in the pages of Angel & Faith, and I believe it’s fair to say that Dark Horse has given us a worthy example of what a cinematic budget could’ve done for a Willow Rosenberg-focused story, TV movie, or otherwise." - Fanboy Comics
"Colder looks as good as it reads. If you aren't buying Colder, then you must hate yourself. Stop hating yourself. You deserve to enjoy this comic." - IGN
"Colder #3 makes sure that if you were still on the fence about this series, you no longer will be. The series took the comic community by surprise with great art and creepy story. There is nothing about this series, and this issue in particular, that isn’t perfect for fans of the horror genre." -Read Comic Books
"Hellboy's tour through the underworld is enlightening and atmospheric. This issue is about the story as much as it is about how to tell it. "Hellboy in Hell" is shaping up to be something not soon forgotten by readers." - Comic Book Resources
"Mignola’s artwork brings the story to life in stunning detail, with his minimalist linework and his bold, heavy blacks. Every page is a joy to behold." - Newsarama
Star Wars: Purge—The Tyrant’s Fist #2
"Purge: The Tyrant's Fist #2 is a fitting conclusion to the Tyrant's Fist storyline and sets up further Purge stories well. April and Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin #1 can't come quickly enough." - Jedi News
"Cramming a compelling story into just 2 issues isn't an easy chore, but overall, I'd say writer Alexander Freed has succeeded in crafting a short and satisfying story. It absolutely won't usurp the phenomenal GHOST PRISON or DEATH SENTENCE, but it is indeed worthy a read and something worth the attention of any Star Wars fan." - Comic Vine
