THE WEEK IN REVIEW
"We’ve got one issue to go in this series, so it’ll be very interesting to see how it wraps up, but as a whole, this volume has been a fun edition to the greater B.P.R.D. world." - Graphic Policy
"The characters are easy to follow even if you’re just one of those movie fans and any confusion can be cleared up spoiler free with a quick Google. For a comic, the suspense and right amount of gore is there and the mystery that is being solved is compelling to read to the end." -Fandomania
Billy the Kid’s Old Timey Oddities and the Orm of Loch Ness #4
"A pulpy, beautiful comic, with lots of action. Good for horror fans. Good for Powell fans. Give this here comic a gander, it’s a doozy." - Adventures in Poor Taste
"This comic is blessed with some wonderfully inventive and stylish artwork, interior and cover. It is perfect for the story which is violent and bleak. The story explodes in little fits, and then ends suddenly. Impressively enough, it manages to find moments that are tender, yet strange. Perhaps there will be more adventures with this group. " - Technorati
The Black Beetle: No Way Out #1
"Any pulp and classic noir fan will tell you, there are only a handful of books out on the market that really do the job. An original concept like The Black Beetle will surely give fans of the genre something to cheer for. It's been a long time coming for this title and it was worth the wait. 10 out of 10." -Newsarama
"BLACK BEETLE #1 is very much the kind of comic that makes you want to buy it digitally and in print. The kind that not only makes you go to the comic shop, perhaps for the first time in a long while, but also stand at the rack and read it long enough for old timey comic shop owners to threaten, “You read it, you buy it”. It’s rare to find a comic that combines visual experimentation, appealing homage, and well-paced character development so seamlessly, but thankfully for readers, there’s more to come." - The BEAT
"This is a fun, adventure-filled, mystery-tinged story as welcoming to new readers as possible for a comic book. Quite simply, this is good stuff. I may not be the biggest fan of pulp adventures, but I am a self-proclaimed fan of all things good and this is very good indeed. Hopefully, as promised in the text piece at the back of this issue, this is just the beginning. I, for one, cannot wait to get more." - Comic Book Resources
"Everything about this issue, from its stylish 399cent (as in $3.99) cover price to its uneven and blocky logo, The Black Beetle drips pulp fiction. This is going to be the must read of 2013. " - Comic Book Bin
"It's a moving and sad tale, filled with passion and love and violence. The interior artwork is outstanding but the cover shines. It's gripping and beautiful." - Technorati
"Conan the Barbarian" #12 is the mission statement for what Brian Wood can do with this culturally iconic character when given enough room to create and redefine. This comic has been high art all the way and this issue feels like a pinnacle moment of structure and delivery as things tie together, people die and readers are left on a very sour note. This is about as good as it gets as far as visceral action meeting cerebral emotion." - Comic Book Resources
"I have no way of knowing what direction this story will go, and that’s a GREAT thing. For once I am following a well-crafted tale that doesn’t rely on clichés to generate plot. All the characters involved are strong, have acceptable motivations, and don’t make rash decisions. Additionally, the dialogue is tight and direct." - Comic Bastards
"The story has grown nicely, layering the love/hate relationship between serial killer and vampire with an FBI agent’s dark past and the even a new monster thrown in for good measure." - Talking Comic Books
