Avatar: The Last Airbender Tops Bookscan at #1!
In an amazing show of demand for Dark Horse’s newest graphic novel, Avatar: The Last Airbender—The Promise Part 1 soared to the top of the Bookscan charts last week! Big congrats to everyone who has worked on this book.
Our very own Michael Gombos spoke to CNN's Geek Out regarding the distinction between Manga and Manhwa.
"Michael Gombos, director of Dark Horse Comics licensing in Asia, said that his publishing company was the first to sell manhwa as, well, manhwa. “We were the one publisher (and the only major one, at that) to properly acknowledge that manhwa is manhwa,” he said. Dark Horse sells six manhwa series."
This week we honored the life of another great artist, John Severin - age 90.
"Once again, following so closely the passing of comics legend Jerry Robinson, the comics industry losses another of its treasures, John Severin will be remembered for the outstanding body of work he created over more than six decades. His Two-Fisted Tales and Frontline Combat comics are classics and his iconic covers for those titles are considered some of the best ever. His comics work included virtually every genre, and he was one of the five original artists contributing to Harvey Kurtzman's Mad magazine. John worked for a variety of publishers over the years, including Dark Horse, where his unique touch and distinctive style will be sorely missed." -Mike Richardson

B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: The Long Death #1
"Shit's going down in the Mignolaverse. Hellboy's dead (he's still dead, right?) and most of the B.P.R.D.is down and out. And I'm back on board to find out what's next." - Crave Online
"This was intense. I don’t think I have seen so many eyeballs go flying. And the blood. Lots of blood. This was like watching that Goya painting of Saturn devouring his Son come to life. I think James Harren just obtained his rockstar staus card on this one. His work here is beautiful, disturbing, and full of energy. Did I say that there is a lot of blood?" - iFanboy
Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi #1
"Overall, Star Wars Dawn of the Jedi: Force Storm #1 is a very good comic. Simple, but effective. However, the main reason why you should pick this is up is because THIS is how it all began. THIS is the first chapter in the Star Wars saga. THIS is how the Jedi form. If that's not reason enough to check this out, I don't know what is." - Comic Book Movie
"Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi – Force Storm #1 (what a mouthful) captures what makes the Star Wars universe special, and is worth a look for any Star Wars fans." - Major Spoilers
