THE WEEK IN REVIEW

B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth #104: The Abyss of Time part 2 (of 2)

"This was a hell of an issue, highlighted magnificently by some of the best art from James Harren that readers have ever seen. His work in Conan The Barbarian was stellar, but he has really upped his game for this chapter of B.P.R.D." - Read Comic Books

"Overall, this is a beautiful issue. We get a great story with solid dialogue, complimented by some truly stunning art." - Comic Vine

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 #18

"Billy, the much discussed "Boy Slayer," sees his own character arc come to a significant turning point amidst all the zompire madness. BTVS has always been about imparting real world life lessons with the aid of a few fantastical creatures and Billy learns the hard way that while he might have earned an honorary seat at the cool kid's table, he is not, nor will he ever be, one of them." - IGN

Creepy Comics #11

"Uncle Creepy gets romantic with a spectacular theme issue. From Gilbert Hernandez using his own artistic quirks to create a shock ending to a teen romance that takes a turn worthy of the 1970s magazines, this is solid work all around with varied art styles that fit each entry well.  Get this one for your loved one that enjoys their Valentine’s heart still beating from its victim." - Newsarama

"Overall, if there's one thing to take away from another excellent issue of “Creepy”, it's that short-form comics are thriving, and that a dose of horror is relevant any time of the year. That, and it's probably best to let dead things stay dead " because when they come back, they get bitey, and/or inconvenient in terms of your day-to-day-life." - Multiversity

Ex Sanguine #5

"Overall, the five issues have been clever and fun. While the mystery hasn’t been the best part of the overall story, the chemistry between Saul and Ashley made this an anticipated read for the last five months." - Comic Bastards

"Tim Seely, Joshua Scott Emmons and Carlos Badilla have put a lot into these five issues, and it's shown throughout each of them, ending in an exciting and scary conclusion with this issue. For those who have followed the entire series, it's sure to have been a fun ride, and those who haven't should give it a shot." - Digital Noob/ EGM

Star Wars #2

"Star Wars" #2 is the issue where Brian Wood and Carlos D'anda demonstrate they don't just know how to handle these characters, they know how to take them new places. The final scene shows Han and Chewie headed to a special rendezvous and the reveal of the location is exciting in a way all "Star Wars" fans will love. This book has character moments as often as it has intricate interplay with the established universe. There are plenty of reasons to stick with this book whether you're a longtime or casual fan. Everyone is welcome." - Comic Book Resources

"Brian Wood, Carlos D'Anda, and Gabe Elataeb set a high bar with Star Wars #1. One they don't quite achieve in Issue #2, but I am still having a blast with this book. This issue is all about laying the ground work for what is to come as Princess Leia sets her covert team into motion." - Newsarama

"Han Solo and Chewbacca also make an appearance, and that's where artist Carlos D'Anda shines. His framing of their short but brief chase scene was done with an excellent sense of speed and scope to give it that huge cinematic feel. There are just a couple occasions when his facial work takes a dip, but other than that this book has top notch artwork to match its top notch story. The Force is strong with this one." -IGN

The Strain #11

"In this final chapter, The Strain #11 concludes the visual adaptation of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s epic-sized novel. At breakneck speed, the plot twists and last-minute surprises keep the story riveting right until the last pages. Since the beginning and now in its conclusion, “The Strain” has been an incredibly fun read." - Bloody Disgusting

"The Strain is a great series that does the rare thing of being innovative while staying true to the source material." - Comic Book Therapy

"Del Toro and Hogan have taken the old vampire myths of Eastern Europe and turned them on their head. And with each issue, the excitement to know more grabs you by the throat and sinks its teeth into you. It has definitely grabbed me, wanting to see more." - ISmellSheep

To Hell You Ride #3

"There is a lot to be said for a comic that addresses these types of important social subjects, especially in such a fantastic setting. If you're looking for something different, To Hell You Ride is definitely that, but follows through with good substance. Even though this issue is a bit unevenly paced, it is still indispensable to the series as whole." - Read Comic Books

"I’m enjoying the hell out of this story and I will be here until the finish of the series which I can’t guarantee with other series dealing with a similar subject matter. The story continues to be enthralling and entertaining and that’s why I’ll be back for more next month." - Comic Bastards
