THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 #20

"In terms of art, Karl Moline has taken over for Georges Jeanty, and its a nice change of pace. He, along with inkers Andy Owens, Dexter Vines, and Michelle Madsen on colours, work really well together, particularly in the flashback and reunion scenes. Emotionally driven moments are where they excel the most." - Bloody Disgusting

"Karl Moline’s artwork, of course. It’s beautiful, as always, and Moline excels with this issue. His talented hands make Xander’s attack on Angel as brutal as necessary, Willow’s return as touching as it should be, and utterly nails Andrew’s look and body language! Karl Moline can be truly described as the “fill-in artist” that fans can’t wait to fill-in for their book’s regular talent." - Fanboy Comics

Sledgehammer 44 #2

"If you aren’t reading this, you’re missing out. Mignola and Arcudi have got something special here and this is a book that is more than worth the sticker price. The only bad thing about this issue that it’s the end of the two issue run and that’s all we have for now." - Comic Bastards

"A tale of sacrifice and the bonds between men, Sledgehammer 44 read like a classic Captain America tale of yesteryear " a welcome reminder of a bygone age. What's more surprising, given the bulls eye which Mignola and Arcudi have hit, is that this is their first venture into the genre of war comics (to my limited knowledge). And the pair have added a dash of sci-fi/action, which pushes the book into the rare category of REQUIRED reading." - Geeks Unleashed

Star Wars #4

"Carlos D'Anda draws the hell out of this issue. Darth Vader? Stunning. Spaceships and robots? The best ever! His character work doesn't quite reach the same heights, but it's never bad. Not even close." - IGN

"Wow, this one is all for the Star Wars nerds. You know, that ones that will totally know what Han's talking about when he mentions how a TIE Fighter performs in the atmosphere. Indeed, most of issue #4 from Brian Wood and Carlos D'Anda is all about the fan service." - Newsarama

"This new Star Wars comic book is like having A New Hope " the day after or what happened after Luke destroyed the Death Star. Writer Brian Wood tells a story that reads as if it were the real thing " the continuing story of the first Star Wars movie. Wood has practically fooled me into believing that this script came straight out of 1977-78." - Comic Book Bin

X #0

"X" is a hard, rated-R crime book with a masked killing hero in the lead. Mob goons are wiped out nonchalantly and without much narrative explanation. While readers can assume that the eponymous masked man must be the hero, it's actually just as much fun thinking he might be another villain. All that readers will see is Swierczynski and Nguyen finding fun ways to wipe out comically thin bad guys -- which I have no problem with. This is a gleeful bloody spree that executes bullet pace writing and splatterhouse art to bring out one of the most brutal vigilantes in comics today." - Comic Book Resources

“X” #0 is a terrific combination of crime drama, vigilante action, and merciless revenge. After reading this issue, you will understand why X is one helluva scary superhero."  - Bloody Disgusting
