It's time for another round of internet linkage! Welcome back to "Dark Horse in the Headlines!" I'm your host, Publicity Coordinator Jim Gibbons, let's take a look at last week's most interesting Dark Horse-related links!

Blacksad
If you haven't read Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido's Blacksad, you're definitely missing out. The internationally acclaimed series, which we here at Dark Horse collected back in June, has been making the rounds as a trailer for it's fourth volume began cropping up online last week. ComicBookResources.com's Comic Should Be Good blog recently ran a rave review of Blacksad in their "Review A Day" feature that lays out many of the reasons this book, which they called "a tremendous comic," is a must read. Observe:

"…the reason this is a such a good comic is because of the way Canales presents the characters and because of Guarnido’s art, which is superb."

"Guarnido is magnificent with everything else art-wise, too. The backgrounds are amazing, as Blacksad moves through New York and Las Vegas of the 1950s and Guarnido really gives us a sense that it’s 60 years ago. He nails the fashion, the style, the advertisements, the buildings, the cars and the attitudes of that era."

"As always, it’s the way these tales are told that makes them special, and Blacksad is a compelling character, as are most of the others in this book. Even if you’re not a fan of noir, the art alone is worth checking out, because Guarnido does such a brilliant job on it."

Like I said, a must read.

Billy The Kid's Old Timey Oddities and the Ghastly Fiend of London
Fans of good comics will undoubtedly be aware that Eric Powell and Kyle Hotz's Billy the Kid, who's recently been moonlighting in the back of Powell's Goon spinoff Buzzard, returned to his own title with The Ghastly Fiend of London. If the idea of an iconic American outlaw hunting down Jack the Ripper is your cup o' tea (And really, why wouldn't it be?), you should give this series a look. Don't want to take my word for it? Well, IGN agrees it's a great book!

"Fans of Eric Powell's demented brand of storytelling will feel right at home as Powell revisits Billy the Kid and his odd band of adventurers… New readers shouldn't be afraid to dive into the book either. The series reads like a much more zany and humorous take on the B.P.R.D. comics, and it's about as accessible to boot.

"Kyle Hotz also returns for this sequel. I find Hotz to be a much better fit for this wacky brand of storytelling than his more grounded Marvel work. Here, Hotz is given full clearance to be expressive and colorful in his approach, and the difference is clear."

If you're the type who needs a taste before buying the whole cow, or however that saying goes, you can check out all of the Billy backups from Buzzard over at iFanboy.

Metalocalypse/Dethklok
Coming this October, Brendon Small, Jon Schnepp and Jeremy Barlow, alongside artist Lucas Marangon, are set to bring Adult Swim's brutal metalheads—"Metalocalypse's" Dethklok—back to comics. The first preview of Metalocalypse/Dethklok premiered last week on MTV Splash Page. head here and take a look!

Buffy
Here at Dark Horse, we're proud to publish great horror comics. Of late, bloodsuckers have lost a bit of their bite in popular culture. Over here, we're still doing vampires right. Buffy's one great example.

R.I.P.D.
Back in 2000, Peter Lenkov and Lucas Marangon delivered a comic series that followed a team of deceased "divine law enforcement" officers, known as the Rest in Peace Department, in their battle against evil. In 2010, it was announced that R.I.P.D. was being made into a film starring Ryan Reynolds ("Green Lantern," "Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place"). Last week, director Robert Schwentke ("Red," "The Time Traveler's Wife") was signed on to helm the film. Huzzah!
