Hello Dark Horse fans!
Well, we're all still here. We made it through alive and kicking with what many fans are calling our most diverse Comic Con year yet. With signings from celebrities like Rose McGowan all the way to international superstars like Tsuneo Goda - Dark Horse ruled the Con.
In case you missed it, here are a few recaps for you!
Fall Publishing Line Up
We've got some amazing creators lined up for this fall, including Guillermo del Toro, Tom Morello and PC Cast. USA Today ran an excellent piece encompassing all three new series.
First up, Orchid, written by rockstar Tom Morello tells the tale of a post apocalyptic class struggle through the eyes of a heroic teen prostitute. Read the exclusive interview with Tom at Alternative Press!
Second, House of Night, written by PC & Kristen Cast and based off their New York Times Best selling books of the same title tells the story of a teenage group of Vampires that are far from your garden variety sparklers. Comic Book Resources has all the gory details for you in their exclusive interview!
Lastly, Guillermo del Toro's The Strain is coming to Dark Horse Comics and we couldn't be more excited! It's going to be a bloody good time. I highly suggest brushing up on the novels if you haven't read them already. Variety sinks their teeth into del Toro in their exclusive interview!
And of course you probably heard big news from Joss Whedon, his panels were packed to the max and his signings were massive! CNN talks to the almighty Buffy creator about the upcoming season and more!
Star Wars goes Digital!
Perhaps our most exciting news out of SDCC 2011 was that Dark Horse Digital has acquired Star Warscomics digitally! CNET broke the story and the influx was amazing! There's already a ton waiting in our digital store, but even more will be added over the coming months. And stay tuned on DHDigital…Things are about to get really awesome!
Reviews and Previews
We've had lots of series wrap up over the past month, but one in particular stands out - The Strange Case of Mr. Hyde. It was a short run series, but for those who missed it Bloody-Disgusting had this to say‚ "Overall I feel that Haddon comes off as sort of a Quentin Tarrantino of comic books. Borrowing heavily, and unabashedly, from childhood inspiration and classic characters, Haddon has succeeded in concocting a heady literary mash-up that is extremely entertaining."
And with the close of one series, out comes another, Comic Book Resources talked with Jeremy Barlow about the new KULT mini-series starting up. A must read for horror fans.
You may also have heard some rumors about Hellboy to which I say, head to your local retailer and pickup Hellboy: The Fury #1-3, you won't regret it!
Dark Horse Comics is pulled out all the stops this year at Comic Con International and we want to thank everyone who came out! Hopefully we'll see you in a couple months at New York Comic Con! Til then!
Thanks for stopping by to kick off your week with "Dark Horse in the Headlines." We'll see you next week. Same time, same channel. \m/
