Happy Valentine's Day, Dark Horse Nation! Let's start things off right with some adorable art from Super Punch:

Feeling the love now? Great! I'm publicity coordinator Jim Gibbons and these are the best Dark Horse headlines from the first a full week of February!
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Last week, we here at Dark Horse were proud to announce we'll be doing Avatar: The Last Airbender comics with Nickelodeon. To say this is exciting news for us here at DH HQ is an understatement—it's downright thrilling! What's even more exciting is that after we announced the good news on Wired's Geek Dad blog, the cover images and press release were picked up by over 20 different sites, including ComicBookresources.com, Topless Robot, Comics Alliance, MTV Splash Page, ICV2 and many, many more. Having a new project stirring up excitement and enthusiasm in house is one thing, but seeing that excitement across numerous major media outlets after its announcement? Well, let's just say it was a nice week to be working in the PR department.
Beasts of Burden
Speaking of things that make working in DH PR a blast, last week featured the premiere of a teaser image for one of Dark Horse's most celebrated books of 2010: Beasts of Burden. Showcasing brand new art from Jill Thompson, the 2011 Beasts of Burden teaser image was first picked up by The Beat before appearing on Comics Alliance, CBR's Robot 6 and seven other sites. It's always tremendous to see the comics media get behind a wholly entertaining and fantastically original project like BoB, and really, it's no wonder mainstream outlets like The Austin Chronicle have great things to say about it as well: "Dorkin’s well-honed humor is perfectly married to Thompson’s fantastic watercolors. High-quality entertainment that gets better as it goes along."
Buffy
Britain's SFX magazine recently awarded Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 8 its "Comic of the Year" award. Huzzah! Buffy fans should also check out this great artist process piece with Georges Jeanty over at CBR and a nice mention for the Buffy: Tales hardcover on Wired.
Crime Does Not Pay
Dark Horse will be bringing the controversial comic Crime Does Not Pay back to print. Get the skinny on that over at CBR!
Damned Highway
Excited for Dark Horse's upcoming prose novel The Damned Highway? Novelist and Marvel Comics writer Duane Swierczynski is too! "I'm a Hunter S. Thompson fan. I'm a Brian Keene fan. And I'm sure after this novel, I'm going to be a newly-minted Nick Mamatas fan," Swierczynski writes. "I mean... seriously. They had me at 'gonzo horror.'"
Star Wars
Writer Scott Allie took some time to speak with CBR about the upcoming Qui-Gon Jinn vehicle Star Wars: Jedi—The Dark Side, Diamond's Scoop blog chatted with Star Wars: Knight Errant scribe John Jackson Miller and iFanboy named Star Wars: The Dark Empire Trilogy their book of the month. If you're making a list of "must read" Star Wars titles, last week's press is a good place to start!
Video interview
Canadian Pop Culture show Electric Playground interviewed Morgan Spurlock about the upcoming Supersized: Strange Tales From A Fast-Food Culture and Mac Walters about Mass Effect: Evolution. Video killed the radio star, so get with the times and give these a watch!
Hellboy
An easy first in the "best interview of the week" category, Mike Mignola had a long talk with BLDG BLOG about architecture and atmosphere in his comic work. But don't take my word for it, the article was so interesting that BoingBoing.net recommended it, as well! The Hellboy logo also got some love in an article about design on CBR, which was highlighted by The Beat.

As always, thanks for stopping by to check out our DH Headlines from last week. Now, go out and give someone a box of chocolates, buy them some flowers or at least hand out a hug or two. It's Valentine's Day, so spread the love. At the very least, pass along one of these lovely Dark Horse valentines to a friend or lover! Till next time… ---JIM Gibbons
