The world is an unpredictable place with few constants. Much like gravity, Zack Morris' love for Kelly Kapowski, the deliciousness of reuben sandwiches and the perfection of A.C. Slater's physique, you can always count on "Dark Horse in the Headlines" to keep you sane by continually delivering the best DH-related links from around the interwebs.
Axe Cop
When are the Nicolle Brothers not making waves online? On top of the Axe Cop motion comics and the Axe Cop fan movie making the rounds, the axe-wielding officer received a rave recommendation from USA Today's Pop Candy blog ("Once you see it, you realize Axe Cop is pretty much the greatest comic ever created.") and had a new cover premiered (alongside King Conan) on io9. Add interviews with Ethan Nicolle on Strange Kids Club and Newsarama, as well as an Autumn Society link, and you have another big week for Axe Cop. No big surprise there, but we're not complaining!
Dark Horse Presents
The man in command here at DH HQ, Mega-Tall Mike Richardson, appeared on MTV Splash Page twice last week. The first article focused on the upcoming relaunch of Dark Horse Presents, which Richardson will be editing. It also touched on Frank Miller's Xerxes—which will initially be previewed in DHP. Always up for some "make you salivate" movie news, Splash Page pressed Richardson for updates on a number of Dark Horse's Hollywood projects in the second article and got some very interesting teases. Can you say "B.P.R.D. movie?" I know I can!
Femina & Fauna
Camilla d'Errico's new art book had previews pop up online last week across a few sites, including Spanky Stokes and Guerilla Geek, but the highlights had to be posts on Comics Alliance and Panels On Pages. From Comics Alliance: "D'Errico's art is awesome… The girls she draws are childlike and innocent, but clearly in a world that isn't our own. Her work is haunting and a little creepy. The big doe eyes on her girls and the unusual portrayal of animal life are both attractive and curious in a way that sticks with you." Via Panels On Pages: "Let the fantasy of it all sweep you away, and I think you'll see Femina & Fauna as I do; imagination given form, life made art and presented in all its stark beauty."
Star Wars
Liam Neeson aficionados and Star Wars fans, take heed! Last week, MTV Splash Page conducted an exclusive interview with Scott "Knockturn" Allie about his new Star Wars series: Star Wars: Jedi—The Dark Side. The article also exclusively premiered Mahmud Asrar's interior art and standard cover for the series' first issue. A day later, IGN ran an early look at Stephane Roux's 25th anniversary cover for the series. These images are oozing badassery, folks. Give'em a look!
Buffy
Though Buffy's recent comic run ended a few weeks ago, the fallout around the Slayer's most recent season hasn't finished stirring up media attention just yet. ComicBookResources.com wrapped their series of commentaries on the season by chatting with editor Scott "Crime" Allie about the final issue of Season 8 and what the future holds for the Scooby Gang. Allie also spoke with MTV Splash Page regarding all things Whedon here at Dark Horse, including Season 9 of Buffy, Dollhouse and Serenity comics. Lastly, CBR touched base with Jane Espenson and Jackie Kessler about the vampire stories they wrote that were collected in Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales. This Slayer really gets around… news-wise, that is.
Interviews
-iFanboy chatted with John Arcudi about Witchfinder: Lost and Gone Forever.
-Newsarama interviewed W. Haden Blackman about his new Star Wars series, Darth Vader and the Lost Command.
-An interview with Tatsuya Ishida is as rare as unobtainium, but the cartoonist spoke with Publishers Weekly about the second collected volume of Sinfest last week.
-Writers Maurissa Tanchareon and Jed Whedon were interviewed by MTV Geek about this Spring's Dollhouse comics.
-Wired's Geek Dad recently previewed Mark Crilley's Brody's Ghost. This week, they ran an interview with the creator/cartoonist. Check it out!
Covers, Art and Previews
-CBR's Robot 6 blog announced an upcoming Angel omnibus and revealed the book's cover.
-Newsarama showcased a preview of the upcoming B.P.R.D. Hell On Earth: Gods #2.
-Blog@Newsarama premiered covers for Conan: Road of Kings #6 and Robert E. Howard's Savage Sword #2. That's a lot of sword action for two pieces of art!
-Take a look at this rad image of Hellboy and John Lennon from iFanboy.

-Robot 6 ran an exclusive preview of the ginormous John Carter of Mars: Warlord of Mars.
Reviews
-IGN enjoyed Conan: Road of Kings #2: "Roy Thomas has been writing Conan stories for quite some time now, so it's no surprise that he hits every single note spot on. From the distinct narrative voice to the perfectly placed comedic scenes, the man knows his Conan formula. And the same goes for the character himself, who retains many of the characteristics that I remember from stories I read as a youngster."
-ComicAttack.net loved Mass Effect: Evolution #1: "I have to say that I will read any story involved with Mass Effect. The fact that I am finally going to be able to read something about the Illusive Man excites me even more. The writing kept me interested and the art was top-notch. I have little doubt that Evolution will be an amazing read from start to finish."
-Robot 6 wrote up a glowing recommendation of John Stanley's work, including Little Lulu and Tubby: "Perhaps the most impressive thing about Stanley is how little his work has aged. It remains as witty, imaginative and fall on the floor funny as it must have seemed to young readers back in the 1950s and '60s. Stanley's comics are that rare beast that can be appreciated by both adults and children—our house is frequently filled with discussions of our favorite Lulu stories for example. Bottom line: he's just plain fun to read."
That's it for this week, ladies and germs! Make sure to tune in next week when we'll reminisce about Hot Sundae's near miss at musical history and the legendary exploits of Zack Attack! If you're lucky, we'll even talk about the ups and downs of "Saved By The Bell: Hawaiian Style," the oddest moments from "Malibu Sands" episodes and the pros and cons of Tori Scott. Bah! Who am I kidding? Next week, it's gonna be more awesome and informative Dark Horse linkage. I'll try and keep the SbtB chatter to a minimum. Promise!
