B.P.R.D.
The Bureau made plenty of headlines last week thanks to a teaser about a new character being introduced in B.P.R.D. Hell On Earth: Gods. Writer John Arcudi spoke with ComicBookResources.com about the future of the series and a "seemingly prophetic woman" called Fenix who makes her first appearance in the upcoming mini. The interview is full of great info about what B.P.R.D. buffs can expect, but check out all the sites that got in on posting the Fenix teaser…
MTV Geek also ran an exclusive extended preview of the the upcoming B.P.R.D.: Plague of Frogs hardcover collection. Check that out! The book looks pretty incredible, as well!
Also in B.P.R.D.-related news last week, Wired's Underwire blog announced the upcoming B.P.R.D. series "The Dead Remembered." Written by Scott Allie with art by Karl Moline and covers by Jo Chen, "The Dead Remembered" "digs into the traumatic teen years of Hellboy’s pyrokinetic pal, Liz Sherman." Allie, Moline and Chen are all names that Buffy fans will undoubtedly recognize, so having this team tackle the B.P.R.D.'s resident bad ass leading lady is sure to be entirely rad. Speaking of Buffy…
Buffy
To coincide with the announcement of B.P.R.D.: The Dead Remembered and its Buffy-centric creative team, io9 premiered the cover art from the upcoming eighth and final volume of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 by Jo Chen. BuffyFest, who honored us by dubbing the week Buffy #39 came out "Dark Horse Week," spoke with Allie about "The Dead Remembered, as well...
Be warned, folks! Last week, Buffy #39 rocked many worlds with plenty of revelatory, insane and heart-shattering moments. All links from this point on contain major spoilers about the issue, so don't click these Buffy links unless you've read issue #39.
Another bit of "Dark Horse Week," BuffyFest interviewed Allie about the events of issue #39. MTV Geek wrote a news story about the issue's real heart-wrenching moments. Newsarama interviewed artist Georges Jeanty about his work on the series, and also ran a great review of Season 8's penultimate issue…
"Joss Whedon and Scott Allie have finally delivered a fast-paced issue with a huge emotional impact that answers very important questions and establishes a new, horrifying status quo. Some of artist Georges Jeanty’s strongest work is on display here as well... So much pain is captured in these panels, I can't even tell you... But rest assured that this issue is typical Whedon story plotting, and all those things you thought didn't matter issues and issues ago totally matter. Issue #39 basically invites you to go back and read all the past issues again so that you can see how misplaced your misgivings were. Issue #40, Season Eight's coda, looks to be gut-wrenching if anything can be told from Jo Chen's cover image for that issue, which is a sad bookend for the cover of Issue #1. I can't wait."
The Dark Horse Digital Store
Following up on our New York Comic Con announcement, last week saw some more info about our upcoming Digital Comics program hit the web. Premiering a list of Dark Horse titles that will be available digitally in January, David Brothers over at Comics Alliance wrote a thoughtful, interesting and (Thanks, Dave!) complimentary piece about our upcoming app and online store!
Plenty of other sites picked up the news after Comics Alliance's piece hit and a DH press release was sent out, including…
