It's Monday, November 1, 2010… time to get over that Halloween hangover with the best and brightest Dark Horse links from last week's internets. Publicity Coordinator Jim Gibbons here! Let's load up on the good word about DH that's sure to ease that pumpkin beer headache!

Beasts of Burden/Hellboy
The crossover between Mike Mignola's paranormal detective and Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson's canine investigators was the talk to the town last week.
  • Comics Alliance and Wired's Underwire blog both ran previews of the book.
  • MTV Geek ran a video interview with Evan Dorkin, while ComicBookResources.com's Robot 6 blog ran a text-based interview with Jill Thompson.
  • CBR, Time.com's Techland, Newsarama, Multiversity Comics, Comic Vine and Panels on Pages all ran very complimentary reviews of the book.
"I didn't think it was possible to fall in love with Beasts of Burden even more, but I was wrong. With Halloween around the corner, we've all gotten an amazing treat in the form of Beasts of Burden/Hellboy. I doubt you'll find a more satisfying comic this week."--CBR

"Maybe I'm just a sap, but I can't help but have emotional connection with Beasts of Burden… There's something about the portrayal of the animals that completely wins me over every single time. It's not just Jill Thompson's art, although it's really wonderful, but the core for me is really the way that Evan Dorkin's dialogue manages to seem both animalistic and human at the same time."--Techland

"If you've never read the Beasts of Burden, I implore you to grab this issue. There is no doubt in my mind that you'll be hooked."--Multiversity Comics
  • Robot 6, iFanboy andComics Alliance all recommended Beasts/Hellboy in articles, as well.
Not too shabby, eh?

Halloween
When you're a fine purveyor of fearsome horror fictions, it's no wonder your books get written about a lot during the week before All Hallow's Eve. Here are a few examples…

  • CBR interviewed legendary artist Richard Corben about his work on Hellboy: Double Feature of Evil. They also ran the first preview of the book. Check it out!
  • Van Jansen over at Robot 6 listed Beasts of Burden as one of his favorite horror comics.
  • Robot 6 also premiered covers from the upcoming B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth—Gods #2 and Hellboy: The Sleeping and The Dead #2 as part of their Robot 666 Halloween celebration.
  • 4th! Letter ran the first preview of B.P.R.D.: Hell On Earth—New World #4.
  • Fangoria premiered the creepy "American Gothic" homage cover to Let Me In: Crossroads #3. CBR ran the first full preview of the series, as well!
  • Jill Thompson's Scary Godmother got a lot of love last week. Time Out Chicago ran a piece on Ms. Thompson and her ferociously fun book. Geek Mom ran a rave review of the Scary, which was also picked up by Wired's Geek Dad blog.
  • People may remember Justin Aclin's S.H.O.O.T. First team from MDHP earlier this year. Well, the team made a reappearance in short story form on Robot 6 with "The House That Ate Halloween." Go give that puppy a read!
  • TJ Dietsch from MTV Geek would like to see Hellboy crossover with J.J. Abrams Fringe… this DH blog columnist would love to see that, as well!
  • And finally, Dan Hipp did his artistic interpretation of Hellboy and Abe Sapien celebrating Halloween. In short, it was awesome!

Written by Mass Effect lead writer Mac Walters with art by Jean Diaz, Mass Effect: Inquisition is a must-read for fans of the game and/or comic series. An interview with Walters is also featured with the story. ion linked Inquisition alongside a premiere of two new covers from the upcoming miniseries Mass Effect: Evolution. Definitely a good week to be a Mass Effect fan.

Phew! What a marathon of linkage, right?! Getting back into the groove after the horror-filled holiday already made me sleepy. All this blogging has severely tuckered me out! I think I better crawl under my desk and take a quick cat nap… but maybe I shouldn't mention that here… too many links, too tired…

But seriously ladies and gents, thanks for swinging by to check out "DH in the Headlines" this week! All of us here at Dark Horse hope your Halloween was horrifically good! See you next week… same Horse time, same Horse channel! ---Jim Gibbons
