The layouts are done quick, just a rough idea to break down the pacing of the page and storytelling--a lot of times panel layouts will change once I get to the actual pencils.

Ryan Sook needed the monster reference for the first issue cover, so I ended up designing the monsters to GODS before I actually read the first issue script. John described them as "bull monsters", so this is the first thing that came to mind. Which didn't click with everyone, so I went back to the drawing board--

--and came up with the bat-headed creatures which worked better and was good to go with some small changes; like giving them two eyes instead of four and other details that I filled in on the finished interior page art.
