This weekend, on Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st, Portland is hosting the third Rose City Comic-Con. We’ve been called the Rose City for over a hundred years, since the first time waxed mustaches were fashionable—we have an ideal climate for rose cultivation; our International Rose Test Garden has over 500 varieties. Utena cosplayers please take note.

Rose City Comic-Con, like Neo-Tokyo, has E-X-P-L-O-D-E-D in attendance since 2012; that year, the first show had 4100 people attending. Last year, it was 18,000! Naturally, this being our town, we’re going to be in the exhibitor’s hall (Booth 701). But we’re also going to be present at several panels over the weekend, including of course, a panel about our manga!

If you get the chance, please drop by on Sunday at noon for the Dark Horse Manga panel. It’s going to be upstairs on Level 2 off the Ballroom Lobby, in Panel 2 (Room 203). We’ll be talking not only about the history of Dark Horse Manga (back to 1988!) but what we’re doing right now in 2014, and looking ahead to the incredible future year of 2015, when the Angels will return and there probably won’t be much time for comics conventions.
