The Rocket Countdown is a list of questions we send to each creator working on a Rocket Comic. We believe that the answers to these ten questions will tell you everything you need to know about both the creator and the comic on which they are working. Today we'll be talking with Greg Titus, penciller on Syn and we'll learn about his secret origin in comics, how he came to work on Syn, and what he really thinks of Syn writer Keith Giffen!

10. How long have you been in comics? What was your first work?

My first work was the Buggs series published by Acetylene Comics. I did seven issues. It did not have a very large circulation run. It was printed well but a lot of the shipping was done via my bicycle. It was a fun series to do and really where I learned everything I know.

9. What are your influences?

I've had a lot of influences. Jason Pearson, Humberto Ramos, fellas like that... I guess my greatest influence lately has been Mike Oeming. We have been working on a project called Dawg together for a while. He has been a real strong guide in my storytelling and mood. Skottie Young, Jon Sommariva and Mark Brooks of the Ledheavy site have always influential in the development of my work. We have a nice litle competitive thing going that helps us all keep our edge. In addition, my inker, Julian Washburn, has no problem letting me know when I need to step it up.

8. What project are you doing for Rocket?

Syn is my baby right now. Keith Giffen and I have been nursing our little cyborg to adulthood. She is coming along nicely...

7. What makes it cool?

It's a project that takes place so far in the future that visually there are very few boundaries for me so i can go pretty far pretty fast with the artwork. It's fun to draw something that has not really been hit upon before. It's a very introspective book on the part of the main character, a lot of inner dialog and character development. It changes gears so quickly to action sometimes it'll knock your socks off!

6. How did you come to work with Dark Horse/Rocket Comics?

I had been kicking Phil Amara [Ed. Note - former Dark Horse editor] for some time for some work and he finally caved in.

5. Besides your Rocket book, what else are you working on at the moment?

I'm working on a book called Dawg with Mike Oeming, I'm doing some Star Wars work, a lot of smaller character design jobs. The Ledheavy kids and I have a lot of little things we are trying to get rolling as well.

4. What comics are you reading now?

I read a lot of books....Stormwatch, Invincible, Lone Wolf 2100, Hellboy... whatever I can get my hands on where the art inspires me to be greater than I am.

3. What's your impression of the rest of your creative team? Please feel free to dish some dirt.

My team is pretty great! It always takes a little time for everybody to get settled and there are always growing pains but we make it work. I am not an easy person to work with myself so I'll refrain from the dirt as much as possible because most of it would be at me.

2. If you were a hero in a Rocket comic, what would your power be?

Making Keith Giffen write faster!

1. Do you have any amazing powers in real life?

Wiffle ball and climbing trees.
