This summer, Dark Horse is proud to release two comics that will bend your imagination and raise your heart rate: Rex Mundi and Scarlet Traces: The Great Game.

In Arvid Nelson's Rex Mundi, readers will sit on the edge of their seats as Doctor Julien Sauniere unlocks the darkest secrets of the Catholic Church. Weaving a tale of magic, mystery and suspense, Nelson cleverly orates Julien's struggles to sniff out the church's murky past in hopes of not only discovering the real motives behind Paris' politicians, but in finding the Holy Grail. Artist Juan Ferreyra punctuates Nelson's plot with dark, moody images, enhancing the gloom of Sauniere's surroundings -- from the expression on medieval statues to the cobblestone streets that zigzag through Paris.

"Readers who want smart, suspenseful stories with a dark backdrop will love this," Scott Allie, Rex Mundi editor, says of the series. "[It] delivers really fun, explosive scenes, held together by a tight, intricate plot that rewards readers to stick around."

Similarly, Dark Horse will be releasing Ian Edginton and D'Israeli's Scarlet Traces: The Great Game. Picking up where the 2003 hardcover book, Scarlet Traces, left off, the story leaps forward to the 1940s, and the war with Mars is still furiously raging on. After decades of battle, the British government is also struggling to keep control on the homeland -- all while the truth about the decades-long intergalactic war is starting to surface. In the style of the first book, artist D'Israeli skillfully illustrates the emotion and turmoil of the story, paying undivided attention to every last detail.

"I like to think that Scarlet Traces: The Great Game is a shining example of the Dark Horse Comics tradition," Dave Land, Scarlet Traces editor, says. "The characters in the story have that human element that lets them fail or succeed just like any real person. If you shoot them in the head with a ray gun, their brains will fry."

Look for Volume 3 and a re-print of Volume 1 of Rex Mundi in the coming months, as well as Rex Mundi #1 in August, with new issues coming out bi-monthly. The first two issues of Scarlet Traces are slated for release this summer, with issues three and four this fall.
