Harvey Pekar continues his character study of Vietnam veteran Robert McNeill. Far more than a typical war story, Pekar and McNeill journey through the nuances of the experience, dissecting what it meant for Robert to be a black man in an already racially charged environment, and his interactions with the influences -- both friendly and unfriendly -- that surrounded him. Once again, Harvey Pekar masterfully illuminates a subtle aspect of the human condition that few others are willing or able to tackle.
